Bernard Woolley The Liverpool owners invest in PIF don't they and they always manage to sell their deadwood to the Saudi clubs for fees no one else would pay. I don't think they're bothered about Newcastle but it did enable Newcastle to get the fee they wanted for a player on strike.

Looks like it is done. Mourinho has identified the holes in their squad pretty quick, once they add Rodri in they'll have a much better XI going into next season.

I think this also possibly rules out any chance of us signing Barcola this summer. PSG won't sell unless they get a top quality replacement imo.

Barcola was probably highly unrealistic anyway. I think we've made our choice about wingers already unless someone insane becomes available (like the Vinnie rumour), it's about getting the right midfielders and defenders now. I just wish we had kept Trossard. Such a stupid, senseless transfer under the current circumstances.

Sicario2 Maybe, but Trossard in 2026 is one of the most progressive wide players in Europe. Who do we have that possesses his creativity on the wing except Saka?

No one will care if we sign Vinicius of course but dumping him at a time when we expect Saka to miss huge chunks of the season looks like a big miscalculation otherwise. At 31 he could easily have played another year, and if it had led to another trophy it would have been worth more than the €15-20 million we got by pawning him off on Fener.

Klaus Trossard had a fairly lacklustre 2026 until the last few weeks of the season when he seemed to realise this was his last chance and started playing like a man possessed.

Qwiss see I get this but so did all of our wingers end they don't have the excuse of getting older I think he was still in the top 2 or 3 for goals and assists? Beyond that he still adds more outside of that because his technical ability is way better so he poses a different challenge for a team that the likes of Madueke, martinelli and even eze in terms of regularity

As I've said before the age stuff and move him on I get but he absolutely must be replaced with a high level technical player or we will be a weaker side next season and you remove his G&A and you don't win the title so he's not some luxury component from last year.

awooga83 yeah his stats were good on g/a but most of that came early in the season. February to the end of April he was pretty bad all round. I do agree he needs to be replaced though. I know we've got Tzolis but I think going from a proven PL player to a guy making a big step up the leagues is a massive risk. Lets just get Vini Jr and then everyones happy.

Qwiss yeah I wouldn't count him as a replacement right now it would be a total gamble.

Sicario2 When you are at the top and dining at the top table there is only a handful of players that get you from where we are to where we want to go. Bruno is a one of very few of them.

Meh. Bruno is the tactical signing that'll get our season off on the right track. But with everyone fit he'd be fighting for his place with the rest.

He would still get plenty of game time, and be on a time actually fighting for top honors instead of fighting to get into Europe in the first place. The chance to win real silverware and not just a League Cup is a big draw.

USArsenal He's a good player, but we have a strong midfield. If we manage it then signing him lifts our floor by protecting our starters and allowing competition and rotation. That's a big, big deal, but I don't reckon he's a level up on Rice, Zubimendi or Ødegaard.

Burnwinter yeah I'd agree I think even though I rate Bruno very highly. I think our midfield is pretty much top class anyway. Rice, Zubi, Ode is certainly a top midfield trio. The only issue is we overplayed them last year to the point they pretty much all broke in one way or another. MLS finally getting his chance to shine helped but you'd have to think they expected more of Norgaard last year. Bruno would be on the level of our starting 3 and make rotation a lot easier for us. I hope it happens but its not like we are fucked with out him.

I love that they are basing their crazy valuation on 2 players who are younger, smarter, faster and more productive.. They may 'wish' for 100, but im guessing he would go for more like 60 or 70 at the most.
