That perhaps applies to the top end of the league but I think your range is a bit stretched/inflated. Single digit million transfers were common and they weren't middling players. Chelsea came in and shattered the financial landscape at that point - £24m for Drogba, Ferreira £13m, Carvalho £20m, Robben £12m. These were big notable signings, not middling players. Man United spent an initial £20m on Rooney. Those players mostly left pretty significant legacies in the league

Not only that, the 13m for Wiltord was still our record signing back then, save for the January 2004 signing of Reyes for 17m (which included addons as well).

Either way, things going rhe way they are, on a few years shitty players will go for 100s of millions whilst the best are going for nearly billions and earn multimillion pounds a week, meanwhile the fans will be forced to pay +£500 a month spread over 5 or 6 different networks/subscription services to watch the games on TV.

There will reach a point where the growth of the game (and the charges punters will have to cough up to pay for that growth) will reach a tipping point. More and more people will turn to piracy and IPTV to consolidate their watching and if enough people do that clubs will suffer.

Sicario2 why do you care so much? He wouldn't even get much game time if he joined. If he was starting XI ready then I might care a bit more but as it is, he's a decent prospect and nothing more.

Tam the bigger problem is you can't allow desperate clubs like Tottenham, Chelsea and City to an extent set the market rate. Tottenham doesn't even have the money they are spending. It's a massive gamble on their part, and I can't wait to see it backfire.

We need to be bold, but we still need to go about this sensibly. Rogers for 130m? is just stupid. I like the player but I can't say I'm too eager for him at that price. Good thing he seems to be all in which should strengthen our hand somewhat during negotiations ala Gyokeres.

Think we seal deals for Barcola, Rogers and Bruno G.

That would be a real statement window.
