Qwiss I think I haven't articulated myself well. We're basically in agreement, I think - in so much as there are options but the degree of certainty behind whether or not they'll deliver is much slimmer versus previous generations.
In years gone by, the likes of Aguero and Torres would be playing at a pre-Simeone era Atletico for a number of years before getting picked up by PL clubs. Comparably, now you're having to gamble a bit more on a couple of seasons in the Primeira Liga (Nunez & Gyokeres) etc.
Yes, there are options available this summer but I believe it's harder to get those decisions right because the talent pool of strikers is much narrower these days (presumably because the demands of a modern day striker are much more prohibitive) meaning you have to take more of a gamble on how likely X player will adapt to playing at the top level of football.
