Sicario2 I'm slightly worried Wirtz will do great for Liverpool but I am definitely not jealous. I can tell you in all seriousness I would not want us spending on Wirtz the sort of money that could sign both Williams and Gyokeres.

Now whether we sign those player or players of equivalent quality is another issue. We'll have to wait and see for that. However so far we have signed Zubi and Kepa and those are 2 good deals I am very happy with. Hard to come up with better players to fill those 2 holes in the squad TBH.

Sicario2 Not jealousy really, just stating facts. If we spent £120m on Isak you know what you are getting but when you spend that much on someone from another league there is a risk involved. Havertz came to Chelsea and didn't live up to his price tag. Wirtz however comes into a more stable environment and unfortunately I can't see him not doing well.

Sicario2 Turkey is different to Saudi, he's still in Europe and playing in the CL. At that stage of your career it is your last pay cheque so you gotta do what you need to do. Supposedly we offered him a lot less money and he wouldn't be a starter either.

Regarding the price of Wirtz, crazy expensive but what the hell can you do? Like I posted yesterday - Semenyo at 25, with 1 good season, not great, not amazing just good goes for 70 mil lol. Gittens, with 3 good months to his name, out of favour with his club, they are not playing him, he is fucking about...they turned down 50 mil lol.

The market is fucked beyond repair.

Qwiss Yep, give me Zubi, Gyökeres and Williams and we'll have had the best summer I can remember since following the club. Absolutely certain that the first two will raise both the floor and the ceiling massively, to the point where we can afford it if Williams ended up another Pepe. That's a league title in the bag right there.

I think the jealousy over Wirtz comes more from what it says about Liverpool's status over ours. You don't sign a guy like Wirtz because of his numbers, you sign him because you want a potentially generational talent at your club. Only the biggest clubs have a chance of landing these guys. Arsenal had no chance at all.

Qwiss I'm jealous of them for having put themselves in a situation where spending that money on Wirtz doesn't look like a waste of resources. Like you say, we have too many holes in our team to be able to do that.

Qwiss Exactly, we have too many other issues to resolve. Wirtz would be like an icing on the cake type player, we don't have that luxury right now but if we have a good transfer window maybe next summer we could go for a player like that. CM, RW and CF we need starting quality players and every single one of those players are going to be £50m+ signings.

JazzG nah any player that wants to play in Turkey or Saudi at peak age is a red flag. This guy would have been motivated for 6 months then crashed. Dogged bullet imo.

Klaus I don't agree on us not having a chance. We got Rice when everyone wanted him. We have signed Zubi over Liverpool and Real. Wirtz just wasn't someone we went for. Liverpool need a generational talent because the one they have is 33 in a few days. We've got ours, we may have a few in the pipeline.

Klaus Plenty of players who would choose Arsenal over Liverpool. One of them is coming over from San Sebastian soon. In fact, I cannot recall any signing in recent years that could be construed as Liverpool signing one of the biggest names in the world.

We need to stop acting like we are some small club struggling for relevance. We signed Declan fucking Rice who beat out all the midfielders people are always blowing a load over to UEFA’s champions league team of the season.

Qwiss Yeah we can't spend that money on an AM when we have Odegaard, Wirtz will be a better player but unless we Odegaard is leaving we can't justify that kind of money.

If Isak was available even for £125m I think we'd be pushing to sign him.

Claudius whilst I get the point you are suggesting an English player already with strong London ties is different to the potential next big talents in Europe. For them Liverpool can present a case they are a team that wins the big trophies that follows through and that's the same for the other big teams.

We can make a case we are a good team but haven't shown we gave what it takes to actually deliver. Lots of potential but I think that's where I agree we aren't quite in the same category as Liverpool in competing for these talents. It's why this summer is very important and who we end up getting will be interesting.

awooga83 I don’t know. Liverpool has been linked to desired players before. They wanted Rice. We got him. They wanted Zubi. We are getting him. They wanted Jude. Went to Real. Etc., etc.

There is nothing special about Pool in this current transfer market
