QuincyAbeyie maybe. I think he just wants the original 40m/year he was offered before his move to Saudi fell apart last time.

Qwiss Sorry I am struggling to find the link between Sesko and Cherki. Are you saying it only makes sense to take a punt on Cherki if we aren't getting Sesko? To me, the reason why I'd like us to take a punt on him is we have a serious creativity issue and he's one of the most creative players in Europe. Additionally, he can score goals out of nothing (again another quality we don't have enough of). Wirtz is my dream signing for both of those reasons but that's clearly not gonna happen. Cherki is the riskier alternative, and it's a risk worth taking IMO 'cos 34m is peanuts in today's market considering his potential upside.

I rate Nwaneri but I think he's more of a goalscorer than a creator atm. Therefore, I'd mainly play him out wide for the time being.

Douglas Luiz is still only 27. Would be an interesting one to keep an eye on. Not anywhere near the top of our priority list though of course.

JazzG seen any reports to suggest he might be available. he's young and raw at times, but he's that good that I'd be OK with him being our star LW signing

JazzG is Barcola really that good though? I feel like he's as raw as Sesko... I expect a lot of frustration if he doesn't step up his development significantly. Another project type signing is not the profile I would want to see on the left wing.

Gazza M Nothing concrete but there have been rumours for a few months he doesn’t want to play second fiddle. When you look at the options PSG has he’ll have to accept being 2nd choice for a while.

Still he has put up good numbers for PSG, I think he started more games at the start of the season than the end

I think that PSG move illustrates the difference in money and ambition between them and other clubs. Barcola was the poster child after Mbappe left and was more important than Dembele and Doue in the first half of last season. Yet, they went big and replaced him with someone even better. The last time we made a signing like that was Reyes in 04 when we bought a top player in addition to other starting top players. Unsurprisingly, that's when we last won the league.

I don't think it's a secret hack. Just deeper pockets. For example if we had unlimited money we could spend 70m on a back up for saka. Rotate him in and out of game keep both fresh. But with limited resources it's not really the best option for us.

Barcola's pace is incredible, makes our other forwards look like slugs. His finishing is a concern though, tends to be a lot limp at times.

Doubt he'll be available anyway.

Precisely. Would never use PSG as a benchmark for anything we are doing. They lost a player they had signed for 180m Euros from Monaco and had been earning 30m Euros a year for free. Their biggest arrivals post covid include all of these players bought for more than 50m... Kolo Muani, Kvara, Hakimi, Ramos, Ugarte, Neves, Doue, Icardi, etc. Guys like Vitinha were bought for less, but this isn't some lean transfer machine like Brentford and Bournemouth.

Claudius Then we look at us. It feels like the decision we make for our next CF might have big implications for us, if it works out then happy days. If not we'll struggle to move him on and it will set us back big time.

JazzG I think you just need to take the plunge, man. I always point to strikers and wingers the big clubs bought in the last couple of years. There aren't a lot of definite success stories when you consider who they bought in last 3 years.

United: Hojlund, Zirkzee, Antony
Chelsea: Fofana, Mudryk, Jackson, Nkunku, Neto, Sterling, (Sancho)
Spurs; Richarlison
City: Marmoush, Haaland, Doku, Savinho

Again, most of that group have been considered the next big thing at some point in their careers. Most of them have been uninspiring at best since joining their teams. We need to be comfortable with risk. Just do our best to manage it.

JazzG yeah it definitely feels like a seismic moment for this side. There are 3 of 4 options there and if we get the right one then we are golden. However if we get some 10 goal mediocrity and one of the others goes and scores 25 for someone else in the league it'll feel like a massive blow opportunity.

Claudius agree with this too. They just need to shoot their shot and hope they get it right. Can't progress sitting on the sidelines not taking risks.
