Mirth That's surprising as he's nothing like Rice or Merino. It's more likely to be when Jorginho and Rice played together in 23/24 and we only lost 1 game in 4 months or something. I don't think it's a coincidence that our intertest in Zubi picked up the following transfer wndow.
Whilst he isn't a Rice, he's more Rice than Jorginho for me. Maybe somewherr in the middle but not as great as either in their strengths.
Like Rice, he carries the ball quite often, very tenacious and tough tackling, and doesn't really hold position as he frequently goes high and wide to close down/carry. Just that Rice does those things so mucb better. He's better at turning with the ball deep and getting away from pressure, but still not Jorginho levels either.
A Jorginho is more likely to hold position as the deepest midfielder, not hold onto the ball too long or try to carry it too far, rather he just recycles and find angles for passes. The stats may suggest Zubi has a high number of passes through the lines, I just haven't noticed it too much watching him.
But anyways, like I said, I can see it working if we tweak our game. Just don't think it'll be that great to watch if we try to play the same way we've tried to play over the last 2 years.
