What @Big Willie said is so important. The best performing teams tend to rely on a small group of super quality players. Go and look at the best recent teams, even the title winning Pool side had a lot of starters playing 35 games.
And it’s simple. You concentrate investment in the group of players who as a collective and individuals will outperform any opponent. If one of them is away, then the other ten can still keep the team performance high, and you benefit from familiarity. Goals like Martinelli vs Brighton or Nketoah vs West Ham because these players have incredibly high familiarity with each other and even one new player can quickly slot into the movements
This is why I’m wary of the whole Arteta doesn’t rotate criticism. He uses Tierney and Tomi a lot. He’s used Vieira somewhat. But I’m not sure there’s tons of quality beyond those guys and ESR that he should be depending on regularly to keep outcomes high
