I've seen a few people voicing this opinion. To me it's unclear what Partey's total impact has been. What is crystal clear is that we're a much better side with Ødegaard and any two of Rice, Partey and Merino than we are without Ødegaard.

Qwiss nobody is buying him. Read a BBC article today that talked about how while US sports teams have behavioral clauses that give them license to suspend players based on this type of allegation, premier league clubs have very little scope in their contracting and codes of conduct. And that this is something that needs to be changed. Apparently in the last couple of years, players from 7 different clubs have been questioned on similar allegations.

The Premier League should take this more seriously. Both for the sake of the young men it’s supposed to take care of, and society at large.

Qwiss I believe it was possible, just not on financially desirable terms. We took a principled stance when it came to other players, but not this guy, and that is galling.

Claudius there'd be no anonymity for the player in the US which uncomplicates a lot of it. I'm not sure how Arsenal can suspend or sack a player for this when he can't even be named in the press.

Coombs we'd probably have had to pay him off which isn't exactly a great solution. Financially rewarding someone for rape isn't really what I'd want the club doing either. The clubs between a rock and a hard place here. I reckon if they could have terminated his contract without being legally like able they probably would have purely for opportunistic football and business reasons.

As Man City have found out with this judgment https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ckg7dd1595lo this is a very tricky situation for clubs. Mendy was actually charged whereas with Partey it is still under investigation. The club have no legal basis to drop him or freeze him out, the only thing we could do is buy out of his contract and try to find a mutual solution. He had 3 or so years to run on his contract when these allegations came out so that would be over £30m to buy him out.

I would like to think the club have done their homework on this and if their lawyers thought he was guilty he should not have played for us again.

We don't know what latitude Arsenal has had unless we know what's in Partey's contract. It's normal to have clauses in an employment contract that allow termination on far less than the standard of proof required in a criminal court.

It's nothing much to do with criminal verdicts. Criminal law fails more reliably than it succeeds when addressing sexual violence and misconduct, so society continues to depend on other sanctions.

It is if its public and you can claim damage to the clubs image but with the official anonymity here can they still terminate without paying him off? Obviously we don't have his contract but I suspect they can't.

Gurgen I seen them too. Four or five names, a quick google suggests the others named alongside the COO were solicitors and safeguarding/wellbeing roles.

No, my PhD is on a different topic. But my partner works in sexual assault and I'm aware enough about social issues like this to know that married men with children can also be sex predators.
