The other thing people don’t appreciate with Partey is that he is a much higher risk player than a lot of midfielders. You see it in both how he passes and where he passes.
How he passes: typically waits to draw his man close and then beats them with an incredibly high successful dribble rate (96th percentile)
Where he passes: he goes for hard passes. This guy is an incredible passer. I’m certain he would hit 90% plus passing if he was a conservative passer, but he’s constantly looking for big moves. Think back to the passes that led to goals in the Spurs game. He tried a similar pass and got caught out, leading to Rashford. But our offense demands this type of risk taking to bypass the opponent.
