If he's got his legs back then that is a game changer for us, he defo did look a lot lighter on his feet than he has in recent weeks. Maybe it is just a fitness thing?

He really was on it. Those interceptions he was making first half as well. It was like he was everywhere.

I'm the biggest hater of TP5, mostly due to his off field awfulness, but he was absolutely huge yesterday. Hope he's able to channel that for the upcoming games until Merino is back!

He was great yesterday, up until the 98th minute. No one is really talking about it, but it was Partey mysteriously moving over toward the already-covered Grealish that allowed the pass to (i cant remember who took that shot) that allowed the ball to fall to Stones in front.

USArsenal you can't be blaming the goal on him. He wants to help out Kai which is normal.

Clrnc White was also there and in Partey's eyeline. He should have stayed where he was but it's hard to blame him for that after 98 minutes of football.

Nah, not really blaming him. Everyone was completely shattered by the end. But the truth is, thats why the player had the open shot 15 yards out. Granted it was an incredibly lucky bounce that put it right on Stones' foot. I don't really blame anyone, everyone played amazing and we defended like I've never seen. No one had anything left in the tank at the end of the game.

For Haaland's goal, should Partey have erred on the side of cutting off Savio and thus the passing lane straight through our lines to Haaland? I really am not sure and likely only Arteta can really answer that. He went to cover for Calafiori, so he wasn't doing nothing but it looked like both Gabriel and Partey made that same pivot once Savio skinned Calafiori, which left a gap between Saliba and Gabriel and also a clean passing lane to split them. Not blaming him at all but just wondering what everyone thought should've been the rotation. (Sidenote- I do think that's the aspect of Cala's game that will be improved quickly under Arteta - he was great 1v1 when set but sometimes he's a bit overaggressive in committing and he definitely got caught out on that play and we got burnt)

i'm not arteta, but i have to think you want the DM covering the LB who is out of the game now and not your LCB. haaland should always be the primary focus. saliba also had to keep an eye on gündoğan so he couldn't just run straight back to cover haaland. once cala got beat, citeh did everything right.

Meatwad Yeah that's my thought too. And in rewatching the first half, credit to Savio as that move to beat Calafiori was very slick. At first, I was thinking it was completely on Calafiori (and some blame does lay with his aggressiveness in that spot) but the move to skin him was very good and then the weight on the pass was perfect.

Meatwad i don't think we've ever set up with the DM dropping to cover the fullbacks. Even when Zinchenko was at left back, Gabriel was always the one moving out wide to cover the space. tbh I don't think Partey has to legs to go out wide and stop a winger

samthegooner Savio had a good first half. Calafiori scored a stunning goal. Gabriele Magalhaes is a one in a million defender. We should be talking about these things all week. Not the referee once again

Claudius Savio is twice the player Doku is. It's a shame how his transfer went down, especially for that French City feeder club Troyes who never even got to see him play a minute. The multi club model is such a scam. If Pep was smart (not saying he isn't but he has his system and letting wingers cook isn't usually part of it) he would set Savio free and allow him to be a main creative hub for them to alleviate the responsibility from the aging KDB. Foden clearly can't handle that and is more of a finisher than a creator. They should always be starting Grealish and Savio in my opinion- those were the only guys causing us issues.

Grealish has been shit for over 2 years. Savio is 2 a penny Brazilian. 100 times seen a player like him before and will see 100 time again. Nothing special.
