USArsenal I kinda know what Dules is saying actually. I think it was quite a statement of intent from Arsenal, in the same way as signing Declan Rice was last summer. We'd finished pretty well nowhere in the Premier League season immediately before, so to get a player of the value calibre of Partey was a definite coup. I know I was excited! I didn't realise his thighs were made of brie.

USArsenal it sounds crazy but I was maybe a smidgen more hyped for partey. cast your mind back to 2020. we were coming off almost 10 years of utter deprivation from not having a high quality centre mid. add to that the way it went down, with the release clause activated on deadline day. hard to get more excited than that, bar signing ozil on deadline day

it's probably his last season with us. hopefully he goes out with a flourish ala xhaka

No doubt his status as Arteta's first marquee signing has earnt him a little extra protection and support. We should've moved him on a year ago if we could: last season alone we blew over £10m on his wages during absences. He's been a little over half a player on a little less than twice the wages while under contract to us.

Sicario2 - Tier 1

Since he’s come in the team we’ve won 8 and drawn one (when we were 10 men v Brighton).

Touch wood he is playing 90 mins after 90 mins (although I would rest him this Thur).

Not sensational like he was in 2022/2023 but he’s an important cog in our system for now:

Sicario2 - Tier 1 the animal has been good. You can see that he’s a bit slower like Jorginho, but even yesterday he had a flat out sprint where he caught up with Kulusevski or one of the other orcs. He’s coming back nicely and should contribute a lot in his swansong.

He is still a really important member of our squad. Solid performance. Didn't realise he was that good

the instant turns after receiving are really good. It feels like Partey does a lot more scanning once he's settled into the team, and that seems to drop whenever he's out of it.

Rohit

He has been great defensively this season for most part. His athleticism has waned and he makes mistakes on the ball but once Merino and Rice become permanent, he will add solid depth when the fixtures pile up.

Rohit I'm no so sure he loses his place when Merino and Rice are both fit and available. Neither of those 2 are natural 6s and I don't see a huge reason to upset the balance of the team. Add to that when Ode is back it'd be silly to push him or Merino too hard and I think we should see a lot more rotation in those CM positions with Partey and Jorginho rotating behind them.

Qwiss the main thing for me is we have a usable squad. Which wasn’t always the case. We had a lot of people hanging around the first team who we couldn’t slot in. But now everybody can step in and have an impact. I’m not stressed with the idea of Thomas being the main guy for the next several weeks while we wait for Merino to heal and adapt.

He's a disaster waiting to happen. A few good games and the plaudits come out. It's a matter of time before his fitness or form impacts the team. We're lucky he's pulling of a few good performances at a time when we're missing a few key midfielders but I'll be glad when he's finally relegated to the (accused's) bench.

His form also doesn't absolve the fact that for genuine footballing reasons he should have been sold last summer, then this summer.

Sounds like we tried to move him on and had to takers, he's on £200k a week so we just have to let his contract run out.

Once we have Rice and Merino back in the squad along with Jorginho I think he'll mainly be a rotation option.

Claudius definitely. No more Cedric and Elneny taking up squad places. Although Kieran Tierney is still hanging around the club infirmary.
