I've got more time for Partey than some of you.
First, he generally comes back from injury in decent form, and ramps up quickly. Part of that may be his role isn't the most demanding physically (cardio wise) but I also think it speaks to his skillset/experience.
Further - I'm tired of Arteta building a system that has to work ever so precisely for us to get the most out of our players.
I've got a soft spot for players who make those around them better, and can do that in a wide array of game types (slow, physical, league, cup, etc.). Where as I struggle with Jorginho (game passes him by the second we don't have control), Vieira (only effective if he gets spoon-fed 5+ meaningful offensive moments), and to a lesser extent Odegaard (passed by with high pace games a la Liverpool).
Partey and Rice are straight ballers who will be as comfortable against fast or slow, physical or soft teams. That means their floor is far higher than the others, even if Odegaard can match their ceiling. Right now with how our team is performing, and Areta's over-tinkering, I actually think Partey would go a long ways in helping us re-establish control but also be able to accept the periods when we're under the cosh.
