Qwiss I did listen, and I think you're doing him down even more than I originally thought. He's not a real journalist, he's an entertainment writer, and he's probably overcompensated over the last few years even more than he usually does, precisely because he's been genuinely conflicted.
What annoys me most about him is how he thinks being rational is being positive and finding silver linings, or 'trying to understand'. He even said as much in the same episode re: Madueke, even if he didn't take his own advice. It ends up being extremely patronizing to all those who are then painted as irrational simply because they have a negative view. I do think this attitude is common among many public figures who experience relentless online criticism and abuse, even if I think it only compounds the problem.
Anyway, I thought what he said was right, even if he's a bit of a clown. I don't really take him seriously enough to criticize him on this, and I believe him when he says this has being weighing on him for years, because it's been that way for so many of us.
But also, I don't really care all that much about whether or not we agree on the content of Gunnerblog's character, so I will also accept your interpretation may be spot on.
