Yep. There was zero need for that statement. Any excuses about the club being legally hamstrung, etc is bullshit when you consider we never sold him, statements like that and worst of all we were looking for a new deal with him. Surely you don't need me to explain there is a difference between a player being benched for sporting reasons & a player being benched for a rape investigation? Until he is charged Arsenal can be held legally liable for naming him or implying it is him. The flip side as Coombs says is whether Arsenal should take that potential legal case on the chin and the financial hit.

If that player is then found not guilty the club is on the hook for that. I don't know know the legal ins and out but that could also have prejudiced the investigation which would have had severe consequences for the alleged victims. As I have already stated the player has a legal right to privacy and Arsenal would also be infringing upon that.

Now there is an argument to made that Arsenal should take that risk and take it on the chin. This isn't about defending the club. Man City did the same with Mendy, only suspended him when he was charged and stopped paying him. He was found not guilty in the end and they had to pay his wages.

Yeah but it suits peoples narrative. This idea that Ozil was benched for speaking up for the Uyghurs is a load of nonsense. The Auba thing is also exaggerated, this idea he was some model pro and got forced out because he flew back late seeing his ill mother is pure fantasy. Arteta mentioned about having a dossier of how many times it happened. The culture around the club stank and the captain taking the piss should not be tolerated. Likewise for Ozil, got his big contract and started pissing about.

Speedster That is another point, it is a nasty world out there and what is to stop the system being weaponised by bad actors. There have been plenty of cases of famous people acting like scum but also people out there trying to extort them. It is not an easy task, I don't know what the solution is either and whether the law needs to be changed. It is very hard to find the right balance to make sure justice is served.

You aren't suspending them they aren't playing and you can make up whatever reason you want. Given the circumstances I don't feel this player would be in the right frame of mind or whatever the courts don't want to get involved with disputes about playing football.

The fact that the whole world already knew it as partey undermines that you've prejudiced anything no new information would come to light from that which the world does not already know. The privacy argument doesn't stack up for me if Arsenal don't make any comment and keep it focused on football. What's the specific law that means because like you I'm not an expert but a lot of people are throwing around legal terms without linking it showing the actual law. Partey would have to challenge it by going to court and admitting he believes arsenal are not playing him because he's under investigation for rape thus naming himself in the process which I doubt he would want to do.

How will Partey prove he was benched for non sports reasons? If the manager provides his own rationale this was why. You can suspect what you want but how do you prove it in evidence what one person's thoughts are. I felt this was the best decision for the team end of it you can't challenge that There is nothing he can do no it's because of this and the court or arbitration would ask and what is that thing and he would have to explain his case. This position is incredibly weak and feels very much like looking for excuses rather then accepting the reality of what the club chose to do.

So Arteta couldn't have benched him for sporting reasons during the investigation either because he couldn't have proved that it wasn't because of the allegations? Have you ever seen a player sue a club for being benched? The manager could've just said he wasn't impressing in training, didn't fit what he wants or whatever. JazzG as has been commented clubs are always lying or being selective with the truth on matters, I didn't see this or that incident the most obvious example. So they could have easily said what they wanted to it was a choice not one they had imposed on them so the whole they couldn't have done this is a load of rubbish excuse making. Him not playing doesn't identity him the info on the leak already did that if arsenal don't comment on it you can't blame them for what has already entered the public domain.

Rightly or wrongly the club and players all seem to think Partey was innocent and treated him that way. There needs to be an internal investigation as to why that was the case and why the clubs lawyers came to this decision. He should have been sold off or contract bought out if there was any chance he was guilty.

Even if Arteta or the club didn’t feel comfortable removing him from the team initially, for whatever reason, Partey the footballer has given them plenty of opportunities over the past three years due to his form and fitness. He could, and should, have been moved on and replaced on several occasions from a football perspective.

There’s also no way the clubs media managers aren’t having off the record discussions with the reporters and interviewers. They’ll have been managing the situation already for three years.

All speculative nonsense with no legal grounding. It would be case specific and a range of factors would need to be taken into account. They may well have done so, but offering a new contract suggests they weren’t particularly bothered by the investigation.

You’re taking talking points you’ve heard or read and parroting them without understanding the law or how it applies, or making any attempt to do so to maintain balance and understanding. Again, quite the irony considering you have no intention of believing the texts which led to all this.

it couldn't, the club can't name him themselves but they can't be forced to run their business according to his right to remain anonymous ffs. He has a right to his salary and to access to the facilities to train, everything else is up to the manager even whether he's included in the match day squad.

Arguing the toss here anyway. No chance Arteta a guy who publicly beefs his players and pushes the club to extend a guy under investigation is going to let something as vague as privacy rights dictate his first XI or who to build his team around.
