Coombs Correction - "unnamed 31 year old footballer"
Setting aside the off field issues, there are good footballing reasons to part ways in the summer. He's had a good year, but he's known to be brittle and there are clear signs of him not being quite as on the ball as he once was physically. That'll only decline further. It would also be foolish to place so much importance in an aging player and not look to develop the midfield with a longer term signing. All this talk of Zubimendi makes it seem like he's the only player out there who could possibly come in to replace Partey. I refuse to believe there is only one player who would be at the level required to come into this team.
Bringing back into focus the off field issues, there are credible sexual assault allegations against him. That can't be good for business. It can't be a good look for sponsors and partners to extend someone with that hanging over their head.
