I wouldn't give it to him but I also can't see he'd accept an extra year.

I prefer a Zubimendi-Skelly future, then we have Rice and Ødegaard, with Nwaneri circling, Merino and Havertz in contention, even Dowman maybe rating a minute here or there next season. Once you add it all up there's very little room for this guy on balance.

I'm the biggest Partey hater (for obvious reasons off the pitch and brain dead moments on the pitch) but he was phenomenal last night. He was so solid on the ball and even looked like he had an extra step or two in him. Hope he can keep that level for the Bernabeu (but I'll still never root for him).

Partey will be extremely tough to replace. Anyone saying otherwise are kidding themselves. Zubimendi could be the one though.

Segway Zubimendi on his own won't replace everything Partey does but he will add aspects of control that Partey does not. Personally, I think the combo of Zubimendi and MLS either at CM or inverting will replace the dynamics that Partey provides at his best in our midfield.

Partey controls the game in CM. Even not being at his physical best he still gives us so much when he's on the ball. I doubt Zubi can do what he does though. We'll see whether or not he can if we get him.

How does that make sense? How does Zubi (who you have already said will not be able to replace Partey on his own) having MLS as a combo replace what Partey provides? Partey already has MLS with him.

Partey is so overrated. We'll be much more dominant when we replace him.

We're already super dominant in the first and middle 3rds. Lets see how that plays out once he isn't here anymore. We've already seen what it looks like with Rice/Merino back there. It's not that I'm overrating Partey, it's just that I don't rate the people we're being linked with to adequately improve on his weak points and match his strengths.

Zubi just seems like a Flamini type to me tbh. Or a poor mans Rice. Really not what I'd imagine a deep lying playmaker at Arsenal to be but who knows, maybe I'm seriously underrating him.
