Who'll be our top scorer this season?

With our goals being spread around a lot so far this season and our two strikers in a goal drought, I think it's an interesting question.

I think it'll be one of our Brazilians.

Currently:

Saka, 5 goals in 1228 mins
Martinelli, 5 goals in 1229 mins
Jesus, 5 goals in 1129 mins
King Granit, 4 goals in 1423 mins
Martin, 4 goals in 1109 mins
Eddie, 2 goals in 570 mins
Nelson, 2 goals in 135 mins
Smith-Rowe, 0 goals in 47 mins

Obviously Nelson will run away with it if he gets enough minutes.

I voted Martinelli. He is consistently producing the highest overall threat. But Jesus and Saka are also very well positioned.
If we did a premier league team of the season now, Martinelli would like be one of forwards.

I think it'll be Bukayo, for the pens maybe, but also because his execution is generally cleaner than the two Gabriels. Martinelli has the potential to be an absolute goal machine, but he's not quite there yet. And Jesus is just not a clinical finisher.

Martinelli's got no hoodoo about scoring, and I think he's the one out of the front three whose finishing form looks most likely to explode.

Jesus is the obvious answer. Has generated double the xG of anyone else in the team. After that I think it will be Martinelli, though Saka might edge it given he takes pens.

The front 4 all looking good to get into double figures though.

Posting this here since it's about goal scoring, but I think it will be a trend that our results don't do our matches justice. Very good and professional performance today, but the next step must be to become more clinical. Martinelli will get there in time, maybe Saka too, but Jesus will probably always be the type of striker who is better at other things than putting the ball in the net.

Whoever our next big attacking signing is, it needs to be someone who's got great end product.

We have scored 3 goals more than our season xG. We are okay.

I think it’s worrying when two of your most attacking players (Jesus and Odegaard) are goal shy. Not sure who I’m more concerned by, as both are missing the edge to finish games.

At the start of the season I thought reasonable targets were 75 or more points and 75 or more goals (last year we only scored 61). At the moment we're on track for 99 and 90. We probably need to score a bit more to keep up our current points rate, but 90 goals would be very, very good.

Exactly. 90 goals is an insane pace.

Coincidently, we also have the best shot conversion in the league. I will share the data as soon as can find it.

I am very comfortable with how we are creating and converting.

Are there any good examples of players similar to Jesus and Martin who went from being super flaky in front of goal, to being goal machines?

Almiron right now is on a crazy streak. Let’s see how long it lasts. He barely scored before and now has about 8 in 8. But I’m sure there are others who have transformed over time
