Yeah that's probably the only gripe about Arteta that he hasn't learned. He always overplay the first teamers and they run out of steam for the 2nd half of the season and the rotational players is so rusty and out of form the difference is too big.

I would argue the lack of rotation is what has partly caused this slump.
You need to keep people outside the first XI sharp so when they are needed to fill in the team doesn't suffer. It is a difficult balancing act between that and getting results, but this is what Arteta gets paid the big bucks for.
Remember, the famous Invincibles XI only started 2 matches out of 38.
I don’t think it’s about him not learning. This is literally the most intense playing schedule in about 80 years. Both Klopp and Guardiola have complained about it and they’re arguably the two best managers with the most resources in the league.
He’s gotten us top 2 with his approach. So it’s working. He definitely needs a couple of better players. We need another Saka/Martinelli level player more than anything so we can keep teams under pressure for 90 minutes every time out. That’s the big thing I see. There’s no point playing Lokonga, Nketiah and Nelson together. We’d be 4th. And then guys would have something new to moan about
