We deserved more than we got, lets see how we bounceback.

Midfield as always a problem. Extending Elneny was a known poor decision when we could have signed a player to compete for a spot with Party & Xhaka to take Elneny's place.

For Thursday ESR is fine on the left. Vieira in for Ode and Marq for Saka. Lokonga and Smith in the middle. Defence picks itself.

This game reminded me games at OT in the post invincibles era. Dominate but get done back inefficiency up top and a bit of naivety at the back.

I liked the boldness of the triple sub but it was the wrong move at that stage of the game. Maybe the goal coming so early meant it didn't get a chance, but I thought it actually ruined our momentum.

Sambi isn't really an 8, he doesn't have the discipline for it. Roams too much into other areas of the pitch and leaves open spaces in the middle which is how their second goal came.

Anyway, on to Everton.

A clash between two equals lost by the side that made more defensive errors. We need to tighten up. I don't mind being open but the defenders showed poor awareness today.

ive been saying i havent been too pleased with our overall shape and attacking patterns so far this season. the issues that flared up today were lying dormant in all our games thus far, and they will hurt us all season imo. if you want to set up like a budget man city, you will inherit all the flaws of that system, and compound it by having nowhere near the same level of quality

chance creation and chance finishing is still very poor, we're reverting to the mean on that. odegaard and saka in particular haven't been at the required level, and I'm starting to suspect white - as admirably as he has played - is part of why things are so stiff on our right hand side

Yep, I think we've looked much better this season so far and with a good our chances of finishing in top four are quite high. However not buying starting CM, no cover for relatively poor so far Saka etc. are worrying.
