We need to tide things over until Merino and Ødegaard come back, then we'll be better. Havertz goes up top and we have two 8s who are strong in possession.

It's one thing for Havertz to play LCM with Ødegaard, but there is precious little creativity and ball retention with a Partey-Rice-Havertz midfield.

Yesterday was Martinelli's best game in a while IMO. A confident version of him is still a strong player.

so we signed a backup keeper that's league cup tied. that's pretty impressive. i guess the plan was to play raya every game.

Sicario2 - Tier 1

After watching Nwareni and MLS properly tonight, I think they are legit squad members now.

Nichols a bit too young by the looks of it.

Maldini looks like a Keown re-gen, think he could be like a 5th CB reserve.

Potter the goalkeeper, bless him, shouldn’t play for us for another 2 years.

Sterling looks slightly better than I expected.

He's 18. Pretty much over the hill.

Asterix looked very assured for an 18 year old to me. Probably need a couple of loans to get the required game time but if he keeps developing could be a serious player for us by 21.

Nwaneri is a baller. He'll have a role to play this season. MLS too.

Mirth

MLS and Nwaneri being legit squad options is huge - both for this season and the coming years as they'll only get better. Really we just need a truly elite signing in the forward positions and we'll be flying.

Mirth and the age profile of our midfield gives them a nice runway to come in and become important performers.

nah he's not at a better level than justin hoyte and probably a similar leavel as gavin. justin was passable enough to play premier league games for us. this guy didn't look like he was good enough for bolton.

Don Pacifico

Putting it out there but seem to remember Bellerin looked pretty shit in his first few outings for us.

Far too early to say yay or nay on any player with such limited exposure.

In terms of squad management, Nwaneri being a legit squad option (he was still a ‘maybe’ in the summer imo) is a game changer and justifies getting rid of ESR/Vieira/Nelson.

Merino being back next week is also massive - our bench v say Southampton at home should in theory look considerably stronger than the bench we saw v Spurs away (touch wood we get no injuries this week).

Absolutely. Good squad management. We moved on 3 marginal players earning £200k amongst them and made space for a potentially game-changing player on youth stipend. It’s good pruning of the tree.
