Sicario2 - Tier 1 I just think that's way too simplistic. It assumes all variables remain constant YoY (eg. No organic improvement on a young-ish squad).

I've wanted an attacker all summer but I don't think we should be so defeatist about the capabilities of our squad and our manager.

Don Pacifico At the moment I'd say a little much hinges on set pieces, there are no guarantees we'll reproduce last season's set piece winners reliably.

Even though we've got more aerial power, teams will get wiser as we saw with Emery's attention to denying us corners.

I think we'll see a forward signing with Nketiah's transfer apparently done and dusted (fingers crossed). I suspect many forwards' deals depend on the madness unfolding at Chelsea.

This Odegaard injury has put a magnifying glass to our transfer window. Should have signed a Odegaard replacement or kept ESR.

You live and die by your decisions and this one could be costly. Fine margins etc.

Ode is one of the few players that we can’t replace in the current squad (Ethan is too young to deputise).

Yep Odegaard and Saka will be run into the ground again as we have no alternatives for them that Arteta trusts to play.

If we make it far in the other competitions they will run out of steam and we will fall short.

Panda who is the Salah alternative exactly? Virjil? Elite players do not have alternatives. A good sign for us is that in both games, Saka came off. Which is an evolution from Arteta at a time of season when he is typically playing players the full game to get them into shape.

Claudius Ideally we'd have another Trossard like option that can take minutes from both Saka and Odegaard in certain situations or matches to manage their fitness and peak form.

At the moment we have Jesus, Nelson and Nwaneri...Jesus we can't rely on to stay fit and also covers CF, Nwaneri is a kid and Nelson the manager doesn't trust.

Don Pacifico yeah. Fortunately, it’s not a problem we really need to deal with soon. Kiwior (£60,000) and Vieira (£45,000) are the only players who might want salary boosts, and I think they have far less negotiating leverage than the English boys

Claudius I think we'll see bigger problems going forward offloading players we don't want or need. We've got Zinchenko looking like 3rd choice left back on £150k and Jesus who's a back up and never fit on £265k. Partey who's injured all the time on £200k. Those are the guys we'll need to be trying to move next summer and its going to be very difficult to get any value out of them. Even Tomiyasu would be difficult to move for a fair price on £100k a week.

Getting solid fees, not astronomical but good fuel for future transfers, for Smith Rowe, Nketiah and Ramsdale has allayed my concerns about this summer a lot. It's been about sales and Edu is getting them. If they do well where they're going, then there will be greater interest in our fringe players in the future.

I believe we'll sign a forward, and if we're not pushing the boat out or we're waiting on loan options, it's because the right target isn't about. It does need to be a player who adds something tangible immediately if it's not going to be one for the long term.

Burnwinter we are developing a decent track record of offloading people. This summer plus last year with Xhaka and Balogun. Edu is starting to find his footing. Next year, we need some big cash for Kiwior and Martinelli.

Qwiss you’ve pinpointed the interesting contracts. Partey’s contract expires in a year. The prudent thing there is to let him walk. He will be 32 in June. The other 3, we are going to have to eat at least a part of.
What we need to do is balance elsewhere. Best candidate is Martinelli who is at the right age for a sale

Claudius Martinelli is on big money too so thats tricky. I do wonder if selling Trossard next year would be prudent, he's older, not on huge wages and could probably attract a lot of PL attention. It'd obviously depend on the form of both this season but given I think most of us would like a better starting left winger one would probably need to leave.

I do worry they'll give Partey a new deal. I don't mind him playing this season but there is no point getting stuck with him. He's just too inury prone.
