CM should have been a major priority irrespective of Elneny.

Unless people thought Elneny could be part of a top 4 base.

Club has been really lucky. God knows what they are thinking.

Elneny’s injury is a blessing.

Caicedo would be fantastic. If not then Tielemans, and hope that Lokonga adapts to the DM role.

White playing as the 6 is not even remotely and option in this system, in my opinion. The guy that plays there has to be an oustanding passer - in terms of reliability and progression, with exceptional awareness and touch, as well as being robust and switched on defensively.

And unless I've misjudged Brighton's Caicedo in my limited viewing, I don't think he would be an option Arteta would go for either. Both my eye and the stats say the guy is a no more than average passer.

I wouldn't put much stock in that, Ornstein, as we all know, is the club's go-to guy when it comes to public messaging - and of course they're going to plead poverty.

I reckon it's not the money, but rather whether we should compromise on quality if we can't get the ones we really want.

Due to lack of sales we are close to our limit as far as FFP go, which is probably causing issues.

I'm 95% certain a wide player will come in, if for no other reason than we would then have the option of moving Martinelli up front when needed. Jesus and Nketiah alone is cutting it fine. There's Smith Rowe as a wide left option, but he's also covering 8/10. It all looks a little tight. I just hope we can get in real quality.

I honestly think we will sign no-one. They keep making the same mistakes. We won’t get top 4 this season, expect another crisis either after Man Utd or sometime in October when the games come thick and fast.
