You're right, forgot about him. If Partey is out for a while we are totally fucked if he is our backup.

Yeah that's why I was disappointed by that contract. No need for it.
On that, if we get Tielemens should Sambi go on like an for a year? Already feels like he's starting to play too little.
I like Elneny and I'm sure he is a popular squad member but he really isn't up to it. He can put in the odd good performance here or there which gets people overexcited but isn't good enough.
If we do sign someone then need to have a think about Sambi, I actually think he'll turn out an alright player but he needs games. CM is not really a position you want to rotate too often so he won't get many. I think a loan would do him a lot of good.
I like Sambi too but he definitely needs to be playing at his age and if we have Partey, Xhaka, Elneny, ESR, Vieira plus another player then thats just too many bodies for the midfield spot. And thats not even including Zinchenko.

He may go on loan after the UEL Group Stage?
The fact that we have let Pepe leave suggests to me that the club is confident of finding an agreement with Wolves for Neto or potentially another winger. Based on what we have seen this season, it would appear that Arteta sees ESR as a central player as well meaning we'd be seriously short on the wings if we don't dip back into the market.

Possibly but if we sign another CM who is left out? For arguments sake lets say new guy, Partey and Ode are the first 3 and they're left out to rest. That still leaves you with Xhaka, Elneny, ESR, Lokonga and Vieira for the 3 midfield slots. Thats at least 1 too many, if we get a new winger and CM its 2 too many.

If Wolves would really consider £50m for this guy, I would offer that pretty happily.
Surprised no-one said it. Shades of a young C. Ronaldo there.
Easily the best comp I've seen of him. Yeah I'd snap him up for Ben White investment money.
Love that burst of pace as well. I think he'd be fantastic for us and would be great to have options off the bench.
I’d say he’s potentially like Bernardo Silva.

I'm assuming he's talking about Neto. Also sounds like it's either plan A or nothing, which makes it weird to me that we didn't wait a few more days to decide whether to let Pepe go.
arteta is being coy. all the signs point to us being very close to signing a winger. news of a bid for neto or someone of that ilk should come through soon
Hope you're right, would be great.
I thought Neto had already been ruled out because of the fee Wolves would charge?
Some Portoguese journalist said that we're out, he's the only one who's said so I think.
don't think it's been ruled out. imo the news coming out that he's our top target is an escalation of the poker game between us and wolves, which has been going on quietly for the last month or so. we're coming to the end of the window and all the noise has been about this big mystery signing. I'd expect us to make the official move soon, and put the ball in wolves court

Both sides are pushing stories out, Wolves saying they don't want to sell and our lot saying they're asking too much and need to structure the deal.

Have the same feeling. It's not the first time he's mentioned their plan and that sounds like the words of someone who's confident of seeing it executed.
