Also, the new 5-sub rule gives City a much bigger chance of doing it than in previous seasons. They've already saved points with good comebacks. It's a really big advantage for them over even the other big teams, but over the lesser teams it's massive.

Not convinced that's true. What games are you thinking of? Against Newcastle they made 1 change early in the first half due to injury and didn't actually use any subs after that. Against Palace they made 1 double substitution prior to their comeback.

Their bench isn't even all that impressive, half of it is kids I've never heard of.

City are well set up
I would say they have
7 good defenders - Cancelo, Walker, Dias, Stones, Laporte, Ake, Akanji
5 good mids - Gundogan, De Bruyne, Rodri, Silva, Philips,
5 good forwards Haaland, Grealish, Mahrez, Alvarez, Foden

So these guys should be able to do some light rotations without having to delve into their Cedric and Holding equivalents. They will weather this tough stretch of games best. nobody else has the depth of high quality players who fit the system

The flip side is all or most of their first teamers are also first team players for their national teams so fatigue will likely be a factor there.

Five games to go before the World Cup break with only one being at home (City postponed to accommodate PSV @ home).

Last year, I would have been worried about the four tricky away games, but this year I'm strangely confident we can get 9 points at the very least from them away games.

15 points would be incredible. 13 would be great. 12 won't be the end of the world.

I’ll take 12 as long as we beat Chelsea.

I’m just annoyed that Spurs are far outperforming fundamentals because Kane is like a nuke.

We actually have a very good recent record at Stamford Bridge. But I think Potter is a great manager and it will be a very difficult game to win this time. Hope Chelsea drop points against Milan midweek so that they have something to play for in the CL game before we play them. We play Zurich at Home the Thursday before and could potentially have sealed being top of the group before that, so can rest some players.

In the other fixtures we beat both Wolves and Leeds last year while losing to Southampton which ended up costing us top four.

Southampton and Wolves are worse off compared to last year but I think Leeds are a level above. The way we've played at Brentford gives me immense confidence though.

Really looking forward to it all.

Thats actually a tricky enough run of games looking at it like that. Only one home game, at least its against a poor side.

I only fear Potter's Chelsea but other than that should be 12 points.

Would expect Wolves to improve over the next month, they'll benefit from a new manager bounce at the very least.

That being said, we should be picking up a lot of points from those games.

Not worried about Chelsea, their attack is blunt and their midfield is tired and we'll be up for it. Confident we're good for at least a draw if key players are fit.

The next 3 games are actually more of a concern for me because this is where the need for focus really kicks in. Can be easy to take the foot off the gas especially after two big back to back wins and Europa League fixtures.

Apart from Chelsea away I think Leeds away will be the most tricky game as it’s the only away game we got after an EL away game and it’s such a quick turnaround.

However, despite having a 100 percent home record, our best performances seem to be away from home and defensively we appear to be a lot stronger (3 clean sheets on the road compared to zero at home).

We're a different team now.

Big fan of Potter but I'm not convinced even he can transform this Chelsea team that quickly and whatever good work he does, they'll still have a relatively tame attack.

Obviously Chelsea away is always going to be a challenge but put it this way, the challenges we've faced and come through in the last two weeks were much bigger imo.

Brighton had really hard working players who fully trusted Potter and gave a 110% every game. I am not sure he will get the same from a lot of the current Chelsea players. Potter is very interesting manager but will need similar freedom that we have given Arteta to reshape the Chelsea squad.

Win our next five, and 80+ points would become the baseline expectation for the season as a whole, even if our form were to tail off. I think it's rather unlikely but it would certainly be amazing.

Potter will always know what to do against us. He's the reactive coach that Emery never got to be.

Southampton next Sunday at theirs, usually a gauranteed loss for us, we really need to overturn this trend to keep the momentum going.
