Since Arteta has joined us he has spent more money than anyone else and finished 8th, 8th and 5th. He is lucky to still be here. We've spent another £100mil this summer and are expected to spend more. I am very happy with the football I saw today, but am I supposed to think he is a phenomenal coach because it's taken him this much time and money to get us to here (here being winning two games)?
He's a phenomenal coach because the team press and play in a way that is absolutely elite.
It takes a team full of athleticism, intensity, intelligence and quality to play like this, and it has been a journey to get here, but we are well on the way now.
It's funny how having better players all of a sudden has us playing better football.
I said it from day dot one. Managers are bound by the players at their disposal. Recruitment is the name of the game. When people said Arteta couldn't coach creative football, it was classic low level thinking. Of course, we couldn't create, we had no creators in the fucking team. This isn't Fifa. The same manager who had us flirting with relegation has us with a real chance of finishing back in the CL. The manager is still the same, but he now has far better players, so our performances and results are better. We weren't going anywhere fast with David Luiz and Sokratis, yet people thought that shit team was good.
I was walking through Central London today and I've never seen so many Arsenal shirts in the two years I've lived in the centre of the city. He's brought the fanbase together and given us exactly what we wanted after Wenger left. A fresh young team that is united within a completely revamped culture. I'm sorry but if you can't find yourself getting behind the team at this point, and still whingeing about the manager, you're not a real Arsenal fan. Maybe, a Spurs fan in disguise trying to spread FUD. It's only in the pockets of the internet do you see much discontent, the match going fans and those within the city are firmly behind the man.
