I'm very sorry that things are complicated and can't be compartmentalised for convenience; pushed aside and out of mind until the fun is over.

I was going to say I'm not out to ruin anyone's enjoyment, but then I realised that's not really true. I absolutely want people to react, and what other option do we have as fans aside from stop watching the team and validating the club's actions? I don't have any power, money or influence. The only thing I can do is to speak up and try to get other people to listen. I get that it's fruitless here though, so I'll get out of the way.

Nobody's forcing their viewpoint on others in here, what are you talking about? If you're so bothered by other Arsenal fans speaking their mind on a very serious situation, that is absolutely relevant to the first game of the season, because Partey will most likely start, that's really your problem. Just ignore it and be excited, what's the fucking problem? And how the fuck is people voicing how they feel about watching Arsenal in the game thread for the first game of the season "not okay"?

Beyond a doubt, no. But it's highly probable that he did it, and it takes quite a bit of jumping through hoops to think he didn't imo.

It's pretty much beyond a doubt that he's got a pretty horrible attitude towards women and at the very least has a laissez-faire attitude towards consent. The only thing in doubt is how far it goes beyond that and whether there's enough to charge and convict him.

I think some people are still debating whether what he did constitute rape and for others it is very very clear judging from the evidence presented which includes his reply admission.

Charge and convict is another matter because the law don't protect victims sometimes and we have seen that over the years with many different cases outside of football as well.

It definitely feels like we must have at least a deal or two in the pipeline for Arteta to keep talking about it. It's also great to hear that 3 of Tomiyasu, Tierney, Smith Rowe and Vieira are back in full training.

Excited about Vieira. We've done well in preseason so it's kind of been forgotten what his impact on this team will be.

Good to hear a number of people are excited about him.. Not seen enough of him myself.. having another attacking option or 2 that can make an impact is definitely going to be needed throughout the season.

Players must be pumped for this now. Cant wait.

The team that starts tonight will be many multiples better - it'll be nice to start the season ready to go for once.

I think we will play well tonight but my concern is Palace will as well so am going for a cautious but entertaining 1-1 draw. Fancy us to pick up all 3 points in each of the next 4 fixtures though.

On Palace, I think they'll be in finish in the top 10 this season.

Shocking stuff. We were in such chaos at the start of last season we really ought to move ahead in this one. I guess United and Spurs will also make the same argument.

Expectation management aside, anything less than three points in this will instantly take the shine off our dominant preseason. It'd be very heartening to open the season with a solid run of results through to Liverpool and Spurs who from memory come up round match week nine and ten or thereabouts.
