daredevil why not? It's not that he gets beat, it's that he too often simply doesn't put up a fight. Tomi would get beat now and again, but he'd at least challenge.

Coombs Whites gotten a lot of criticism lately and fairly so but he's misjudged distances a little. That costs you at this level but what Zinchenko did against possibly the best winger around is so much worse. It's not a small detail, it's not a misjudgement it's a calamity.

goon he is shit and has to go. Would be on the bench more often than not if Timber was fit. He'd definitely not have made the first team for the Liverpool game if Tomiyasu were available. Arteta wants his defenders to defend first. Soon as our other defenders are fit, he becomes a rotation/squad player.

Gunner89 he drops at least a clanger a game in my opinion. It's the norm, rather than the exception these days. Yes, losing Xhaka might have exposed him a bit, but he has to do better with his basic positioning and decision making in our defensive third. Nobody should have to babysit him.

flobaba can't be understated how much xhaka protected him last season, and I think it allowed him to play with a much greater degree of confidence and impact. without that confidence and support, alot of his best qualities are neutered.

I think some people just have it in for him, he isn't nowhere near as bad as people make it. Salah has twisted the insides of far better defenders than him. I think if anything in that match Gabriel probably should have better getting closer, Konate did that well to help Trent against Martinelli.

Against top sides he doesn't start imo but against sides where we are going to be much more dominant then he definitely still has a role to play.

goon TAA isn't a great defender but I haven't seen him make a glaringly stupid decision like showing someone like Salah onto their strong foot the way he did last week. You could pick most championship left backs and they wouldn't make such a grevious error. It's so basic I was utterly shocked by it. Salah is like Saka, you give him that and he'll destroy you. I haven't seen defenders offer Saka onto his left like that. It was amateur defending.

I don't think he's gonna change either. He is what he is. Like I say he's a benefit when we dominate possession but against the top teams he's not it

Qwiss I don't even think he's that irreplaceable in possession. It's only a matter of time for the world to be chock full of inverted fullbacks who don't compromise the team nearly as much. Credit to Zinchenko, because as I've said I think he's been a big part of this tactical revolution of sorts, but others can take it from here.

Coombs that's sort of how I feel too. I think Tomi especially has shown.that you can get that from better defenders.

I'm done with this guy. We might as well assume we're 0.5 a goal down whenever he starts against decent opposition.

He's turning into the Mustafi's of LBs. I don't care for his "offensive abilities", it never balances out the shit he puts his defensive unit through. He hasn't done anything for our offense this year that I can remember. Fuck this shit

naz people talk about his offensive contribution but it's not like he's Trent or Cancelo who actually have goals and assists. His offensive contribution isn't close to enough to balance his poor defending.

He's a decent player, don't play him at LB anymore. It's tough to keep coming back from conceding useless goals.

Clrnc play him at LCM and let him compete against the players in that position. We can't play him at LB and rate him as a center midfielder. It's stupid

Qwiss last season we were able to catch teams out by playing Zinchenko as an inverted fullback. Since then teams have figured us and Zinchenko is no Trent or Cancelo as you say. Separately Zinchenko seems much less vocal than he was last season so I wonder if he’s also down on confidence which explains some of his passing.

It also helped that Xhaka locked down that left hand side defensively. We’ve definitely missed having a double pivot in midfield

It's telling most of West Ham clear chances today are created by Zinchenko. Or in fact you could say most of opponents clear chances throughout the season has been gifted by him

naz Certainly shouldn't play this inverted FB role against the better teams. If we manage a deep run in the CL can you imagine this guy back there in a nervous knock-out game against Europe's best? Stuff of nightmares.

At some time in the game the commentator said "Zinchenko with a mistake" with exactly the same tone of voice he'd use if someone played a square pass.
