I saw you in some thread moaning that the club hadn't addressed the left back position. Which seemed crazy to me given the two options we now have there.
At right back, I reckon you're discounting White as an option. I know you have your ideas about how you want us to play - the fullbacks providing width on both sides - but it's clear that is not what Arteta intends. He's looking for techncial security and strong ability in duels imo, the ability to get on the overlap is secondary - the width comes from the wide players being postionally discplined and staying wide. And Tomiyasu and White fit nicely into the right back role I'm describing. Guardiola has a similar imbalance in the fullbacks at City, and actually now it comes up, White has reminded me in pre-season of how Kyle Walker plays right back for them.*
*Not half as quick obviously, but he's still got very decent pace, especially for a guy that's 6'2, so this nonsense Clarence periodically trots out where he equates White's pace with Rob Holding's needs to stop! š
