Dominant first half. Near faultless from everyone out there.

Saliba in particular was imperious. Sent Chelsea’s trash attack back to Germany. I don’t what they’re doing with Havertz but the gulf in quality between him and Jesus up the other end was staggering. Jesus is the most complete striker we’ve had since Van Persie; we’re lucky to have him. Loved seeing Zinchenko drift in towards the middle of the field to supplement the midfield. Some of Ramsdale’s passes up to Saka and Martinelli were breathtaking. Ben White with another accomplished game out on the right too.

Feeling good going into the start of the season.

Thought Tuchel going with a back four was brave considering how shit they look whenever i’ve seen him trying to mix things up. Wasn’t surprised to see him finish the game with as many defenders on as he did.

Tierney only has one real position in this system, but you can make that two when we play 3 atb.

We're a tall striker, a better backup/challenger for Partey, and a replacement for Granit Xhaka away from a properly balanced squad with real upside. Throw in a top quality winger and a better backup for Big Gab and we can start to seriously challenge.

Realistically We won’t get CL until Xhaka leaves. So yes, we are a Xhaka exit and quality player replacement away in all honesty.

Don’t be silly. We’re more than capable of making it with him.

I’d feel more confident with someone more suited to the position in his place, though. I’m hopeful the Tielemans links work out.

I also think Odegaard would work really well on the left. He’d probably combine with Zinchenko really well too. I think they’d be good for Martinelli and Smith Rowe out that side. Being able to shoot across his body instead of always trying to cut back might make him more unpredictable too.

Our second string lost 2-1 to Brentford mostly second string in a closed door friendly. Not much to it really.
