He's 28 and coming from a joke of a retirement league where half of the pitches have extra lines drawn on the pitch because they're predominantly used for that other nonsense sport. I doubt he's had to catch a high ball under pressure in his entire life.

Ramsdale was pointless for the second half of last season. Replacing Leno with this bloke right now is a big gamble. What if Ramsdale just had a bit of the same purple patch we've seen umpteen times before from new signings? Most of his career so far suggests that he's more likely to be the new Pickford than the new Seaman. We need a backup keeper next season who can tend the goal regularly.

Could see the talent the few times I watched him. Going to try and keep low expectations as this is a totally different level and he'll have it all to rise to. Looking forward to seeing if he makes it, gooner too. Hopefully we'll look back on this as immense value for money.

I would like Leno to stay if its possible. If Ramsdale is going to stink it up, Leno could be given an extended run as #1.

A bit mystified as to what some of you guys are expecting? I'd be massively surprised if Leno wanted to stay as back-up and the truth is, you're not going to get someone of his ability or stature to be comfortable with that role.

The amount of criticism reserve goalies get is OTT in my opinion. If they were to the level some people seem to expect them they'd be first choice somewhere else.

Not expecting anything from him, in fact I'd even be content with promoting Okonkwo or Hein to backup in case Leno wants to leave, get someone like Forster or Foster etc. No idea where you get this idea of "the level some people expect" from.

Do you not see how transfers like these are not placating people who are seeing much bigger holes in the squad being inappropriately plugged or not at all?

Forster is a good signing for Spurs. Was going to mention him as one immediate example in relation to Don Pacifico's post, but I wasn't sure if it was a trap.

There have been plenty of decent 'keepers come over from the MLS; I'd also add that given the skillet required of a GK are so different to that of outfield players that the level of league you play in is arguably less indicative of your capabilities it is for outfield players. Happy to be proven wrong though by someone who is more knowledgeable than me in goalkeeping.

He's also the US #1 ahead of City's #2 GK.

Appreciate there is a degree of risk with this signing, I'm just not convinced it's a high as some are making out.

Keepers peak nearing 30. Turner is an extremely good shot stopper. And plenty of very good goalkeepers came from MLS.

Turner is the first keeper to ever win the MLS player of the year, no mean feat. And in the matches I watched him play for USMNT he was amazing in his reflexes and shot stopping.
