This guy is not world class and never will be. Cannot score the crucial goal when it counts, Southampton at home last season and even last night.

It’s all well and good scoring to make it 3-1 v Utd when we were 2-1 up.

Blows too hot and cold, injury prone, positionally Ill disciplined and simply doesn’t score enough for a striker in a title winning side.

He should have the Eddie role and we go out and sign a true number 9 this JANUARY.

That stalker we have, saying Jesus is injured...I'm not saying she's right but she is right a lot lol. For people who don't know, there is a women that stays all day long at the gate (I guess) where the players check in on game days. Jesus did not show up today.
Not that I care that much, I mean he never scores, so we will put Eddie on, who never scores, not much changes.

I was a little surprised to see him starting the West ham game. Those consecutive starts had me thinking his knee would be liable to inflammation or something and we could afford to rotate. Hoping for good news but underscores the need help.

Maybe wishful thinking but have a feeling he could be our x-factor in the run in.. We are going to need quality rotation upfront to keep things fresh for the remaining games... If he can stay fit and gain a bit of form, an energetic Jesus will cause havoc for the opposition when inevitably some of our players will begin to feel it as the games come think and fast after the international break.

He should play in the Champions League, and Havertz in the Premier League.

The Porto game was interesting because we couldn't execute our high press as efficiently as we have done against low blocks in the PL recently. This was because Porto's defensive players are so technically good. They all had a solid touch, could dribble, and were confident with the ball at their feet. The exact opposite is true for most PL teams who also play a low block, resulting in more mistakes and general chaos at the back. That's where our master of chaos, Kai Havertz, tends to thrive.

In more controlled games, like we saw against Porto, someone like Jesus is going to be better because he's stronger in tight spaces and better at helping us control the ball further up the pitch with his dribbling and superior technique.

That said, what a place to be, having Jesus as cover. We've come a long way.

jesus can definitely be our CL x-factor. he's done the business in Europe for years

Jesus is undoubtedly an invaluable player (at minimum as a squad player)

I don't think he gets in the team against Bayern, but he will definitely be really important to the run-in. We have a tough set of fixtures, and we need goals, and we need legs.

CPM he's a different player in Europe though, always delivers a bit of magic

Needs a firm squaddie role next season as cover as the front 3. Shouldn't be a name in our strongest 11. He's a bit jack of all trades, master of none. And if you could convince me has parts of his game that are elite I'd argue back that they aren't anywhere near consistent enough.

Lukazan he has some elite level ability he's just not able to make it consistently translate into meaningful football for us. His hesitation in front of goal is just infuriating. If he fixed that he could potentially be a top class striker.

We have progressed past him. He looked so good initially when he came in as we suffered with Lacazette but Havertz now looks far more useful than him.

Of course we still need Jesus in CL matches though...

Clrnc longer term, I wouldn't want either Jesus or Havertz to be first choice CFs.

But I think the criticism of Jesus was harsh today. Had no support when pressed and still lacking match sharpness. We'll need him over the next couple of months.

Meh, he was fine. Tells you how much agenda's reign when it's this thread being bumped instead of Saka's or Havertz's who were both easily worse than him.

Jesus gets benched with everyone fit nowadays and there's a reason for it.

Don Pacifico If you are talking about the criticism people made in the match thread, maybe. Heat of the moment every player gets flak. Nothing here in this thread out of the norm though

Agreed with that we need a striker. But I wouldn't want Jesus playing on the wings either and both him and Havertz are best as CF. Something's gotta give if we want to buy someone in.

@daredevil If you're saying that these comments would be made regardless of whether the people who made them were happy with his performances in general, then I don't even know what to tell you.

No, I'm not suggesting that all. It's just post-match scapegoating, which is fine if it's warranted, but when he was better than Havertz, Saka, Haaland, Foden, and maybe even Silva, it's clearly an agenda.
