The injuries are never “lost in the conversation” with Jesus, it’s all anyone ever talks about. He’s been “coming back from injury” for two years now.

It’s nice that Jesus pressed at his best but that is a secondary job as a center forward. In possession he’s rarely in the right place or making the right runs.

CPM actually no. Pressing isn’t a secondary job in this system. We generate 30 shots because we keep the ball in the opponents’ defensive third. And that’s largely down to pressing. If we let the ball get to our half, we then need to carry it back and face up against organized defenses. Pressing is a critical offensive weapon for our team.

Claudius Pressing is important, I didn’t mean to diminish that. But that Havertz goal comes from him immediately making an aggressive forward run into a dangerous position as soon as Saka wins the ball back, and taking a first touch toward goal. That’s what Jesus doesn’t do, and that — as opposed to simply missing chances — is what is hard to live with.

The way he injured himself was plain stupid. Playing on the right wing, yet he was running back desperately to block a shot on the edge of the box on the D. A position he should be nowhere near, and that's after the incident 5 mins earlier where he jumped and fell awkwardly and seemed to have tweaked something. Completely reckless behaviour.

Good. We need him to share the minutes, particularly if Havertz is out for a while.

I still believe that he’s technically a top player - it’s everything else about him that feels off.

By the way, if he's back now, that's 9 months since January roughly so makes sense. I remember there being someone who we lost through injury last season that wasn't expected back until December. If it's not Jesus, then who was it.

It's clear that Arteta lends a long leash with defensive tracking back. Trossard doesn't run back anywhere near any of our other wingers, yet he's a mainstay in the squad. It's obvious - some players just do it more than others and Jesus just went way too far.

Yeah, truth is, if everyone is fit (I know, right now they are not), then where would Jesus even get on the bench? Granted, there are always injuries. But at this point, he's a 'spell/late in game' player at most. Maybe the Carabao cup. Thats about it. I agree with Klaus, if he goes anywhere, it will be back to Brazil (or Saudi?)

USArsenal tbh I'd be annoyed if he was keeping Dowman off the bench at stage. If Havertz is out and Jesus is fit I guess its handy enough to have him on the bench, other than that I don't want to see him outside of the league cup.

daredevil I disagree with the notion that Trossard doesn't track back. He isn't as aggressive with (or good at it), but he gets back as well. Who else can you bring up as an example of it's so clear that Arteta lends a long leash?

I didn’t say he doesn’t track back - I meant to say he doesn’t do it as consistently or effectively as Saka or Martinelli and it’s not an issue.
