I reckon he's going to be a bit better than Lacazette, but if people are expecting him to score a goal every 92 minutes or carry our attack as a focal point, those people are going to be disappointed.

Don't even know what folks mean these days when they say "create chances for himself". He played in arguably the most creative side in the league in decades, and still underperformed his xG significantly. But he's expected to come here and "explode" because he'll become the "main man".

It's worse than when a certain gentleman tried to describe our particularly bland brand of football with the term "control".

He almost never creates for himself but he does combine well with others. Hopefully he can score about 15 and help raise the returns of Saka, ESR and Martinelli too. Arteta doesn't seem to really want players who create for themselves anyway, I think he wants the movement of the front 3 to do that work, whether he can get that to work often enough is the real question.

Yeah not sure what the creating for himself is based on, can't recall that. He's a hard working player, at least has been at city, works well in the team as has been mentioned. I just don't think he's looked like a goal scorer so if that is what we are looking at him as I have some doubts that's what we will get based on what he's delivered at a dominating attacking side.

Yep, I feel that we have made a terrible gamble just based on the fact that the charlatan we have as coach knew Jesus from his time at city. I think that no top tier manager would have, considering the squad and situation of Arsenal, bought Jesus.

But welp, now we just need to hope for the best.

Underwhelmed by the signing. A quality player but missing the goals we badly need.

Can only hope the much talked about recalibration of the players own confidence works out.

He could become for Arteta what TH was for AW after losing Le Sulk, however unlike TH Jesus will not have the time to work himself into the change of position and will be expected to perform from the outset.

If we are expecting Arteta to do something, then we are screwed. We needed a signing who were able to perform despite the incompetence of the coach; that is why Richarlison would have been a better fit.

Let's pray Jesus can find his mojo back.

This bit was interesting regarding the his wayward finishing due to the pressure of not getting another chance (in the team).

My contention has always been that Gabriel Jesus needs to be the main man again, as he was for Palmeiras when he shot them to the title as an 18-year-old. As he was for his country as a teenager. My working theory has always been that he needs that level of faith placed in him to reanimate that killer instinct.

I think one of the reasons that his finishing was a little wayward at City was because he put too much pressure on himself. He knew that, with Aguero ahead of him, his next opportunity might be several weeks away unless he did something earth shattering.

He'll be under the same pressure but instead of wondering when he'll get another chance in the lineup, he'll be wondering when he'll get another chance to shoot during games.

it's a position he has history playing in though.

I miss when football compilations used to be like that, with dramatic film music and decent production value.

It was basically taboo to use the "normal" overview angles in compilations even though they are more practical, simply because it didn't look cinematic. 😆
