He played like he had a point to prove which was great to see.

Best 30 mins in an Arsenal shirt for me. Still too skinny though.

When he came on I was livid but almost straight away you could see it wasn't the usual from him. Much more proactive. He was going nuts when people weren't passing to him.

Dam. Didn't watch the game live and thought he might have been a bit overrated due to winning the pen + assist but looks like he had a huge impact on the game.. nearly every action was was a good one and wasn't hiding at all which has been my main gripe with him..

With Havertz not being able to make a quick impact on the team, would like to see Arteta take him out of the firing line and give Vieira a chance now with a start / significant minutes... Kid is soo positive in his play, if he can raise his base level consistently, we may start to see him fulfill his potential.

He did well today, very well in fact, but would be too much starting him v Utd after one good cameo imo.

ESR aka forgotten man becoming essentially 3rd/4th choice for that position is very odd btw.

Really good today. Hopefully he’s making the step up. We badly need another attacking midfield option.

Was great today and seemed to be playing with confidence, a total contrast to what we've seen from him before. Maybe that winning penalty in the Charity Shield has stirred something.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 the hale end dead end. other than saka, it feels like we're signing them onto long deals but eventually selling them all on. i can see eddie and ESR eventually going the way of balogun, AMN, willock etc. it's ruthless, but from a naked ROI perspective, i guess scooping 40m fees for these academy boys is good business.

been waiting for this geezer to show a bit of oomph, and we finally got it. there's one thing that's never been in doubt, it's that his left foot has magic in it. his crosses, set pieces and shooting look capable of reaching a very elite level. the rest of his game is a bit of a grab bag.

Qwiss as shit as Vieira's general play has been for most of his time with us so far, he has shown more culture and refinement than ESR who needs to slow things down a notch when he gets a cameo.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert can't say I agree. Until yesterday Vieira mostly looked like a coward playing very simple passes because he was afraid of the game. He didn't give himself a chance to show any culture. ESR has plenty anyway, I think some people have short memories.

Qwiss to an extent. I think a better assessment is he showed potential to be influential in the final third (pretty strong G&A versus the amount of minutes he played) without being able to maintain a consistent level of performance throughout the entirety of a game. Classic growing pains but obviously needs to make that transition to prove he can play at this level.

Vieira left foot is unesco heritage-level cultured, true. I do agree with Qwiss though, and Kel from the match thread about potential favouritism. Willock and ESR would have been great for what I think we're trying to do in that position. Oh well, hopefully Vieira and ESR impress in midfield with their chances, and Havertz continues to settle in. Still a good assortment of talent to tap into. Nelson's off-the-ball work rate seemed markedly improved last season, I'd quite like to see him tried out there at one point too. As a few others have mentioned, some intriguing succession paths in longer term with Nwaneri, Patino.

Vieria was exceptional yesterday. But makes me think two things. First, the narrative that Vieira is a listless coward is overblown. He had an inconsistent start but his first home game against Bodoe/Glimt he was man of the match with a goal and assist. And generally had high productivity in his minutes of play. He could’ve been more effective but this was someone who missed pre-season with an ankle injury, coming into what are complex systems.

Second, makes me relaxed about Havertz for now. He’s a new player in what is a new system for the team. Would’ve been much easier to take last season’s team with Gabriel and Zinchenko, and put Havertz at 9 or 8.

I watched a replay of the game and I have to admit he was a game changer. I never saw it in him up to this point, I'll give him credit this time. ESR must be the laziest guy in training to barely get any minutes.....
