I am tuned in to this. FV played only the first half. You can see he's off the pace a bit, and will need to develop chemistry with his team mates. He looked comfy on the ball, but had no real sense of urgency to make things happen, considering he probably knew he was only going to get a first half run out, and was under the eye of Arteta and his staff (plus Xhaka and Martinelli). Doubt we'll be seeing him starting in first team colors anytime soon.

Agreed. Felt he was lacking urgency off-the-ball in particular, standing still. 2-3 final passes running in from the right were also bit hopeful. On little viewing he mirrors Ødegaard so much, as a compliment. Could possibly feel like clones out there if they were both deployed. I do feel athletes at this level can become sharp within a matter of weeks. So here's hoping because would like to see him involved.
Take a bow, Cedric for the second. Azeez and Smith-Rowe looked a cut above, but I've tuned out a while ago.

Interesting. Watched a highlights comp and thought he looked smart albeit lacking a bit of match sharpness but appreciate that wouldn't give a sense of his movement off the ball.

Wondering if the lack of intensity could be a lack of fitness on his part or even anxiety about his recent injury...?

He played poorly - there were two or three moments of quality, but he looked like he was playing well within himself for the whole 45 minutes. Hopefully he was just taking it easy. Given it was fracture in a bone in his foot that kept him out and it pre-dated joining Arsenal, I'm assume he hasn't been able to train for a very long time.

Think he’ll take time to adapt. He’s so green. He has his moments but a lot of the time he’s off with his passing. Watched a few every touch compilations. He’s a bit of a punt.

Didn't think he would have that instant impact people were thinking would happen, but it's still early days.. let him get match fit and see how performs. We will have a lot more games this season so there is plenty of minutes to go round.

I can't imagine he's had much of a preseason either so will definitely take him a bit of time to get ready.

Given that the talk players need about 6 or so matches to become fully match fit even after a full pre-season, then he may not be fully ready to start much before the WC break. However we may still see him from the bench as he builds towards that aim.

real bummer he couldn't get a preseason in. it's goes along way not just with the physical prep, but also bedding with team-mates and settling into a new country. being isolated when you're new to a big club must be tough

Physically looks so, so weak.

Starting at under 60kg when he signed, he's balsa wood even for a footballer of 5'7", but his quality isn't hard to spot, and weight isn't everything.

I am actually a bit worried about how well he'll go especially if he ever does well enough to be targeted, but I'm keen for the guy to succeed, he's very likeable.

If this forum has been a thing in 2000, we'd have all been saying the same thing about Robert Pires. Vieira's only been here five minutes and has already shown glimpses of real talent (I thought he did some really good stuff in the first half at PSV too).

Really like him too, and think he's going to be a class technician for us, so not a dud. I would suggest he soak up any opportune reserve match minutes in November to iron out a few hesitations, lapses whilst continuing to be in match day rotation.

He's gonna be so good for us soon. But not this season he's too weak as expected physically. Need 1 entire adaptation period but he's obviously class

His physique can be worked on while he's already shown that he has great technique and vision so definitely not worried at this point.

Yep he'll be alright, and even if it doesn't work out here in the end, there will be a market for him. I think he'll come good.
