They haven't... yet. The Worthless Cup doesnt mean shit. If they win the FA Cup (however unlikely), then they'd have finished in the CL spots and won both the FA Cup and the Worthless Cup. Until they do its not even close.

Seen talk on Twitter of fans saying Spurs were 4th under Conte and getting rid was a mistake. Just shows you how thick some of fans on Twitter are. Also has to be said Conte timed his exit to perfection, knew a bad fixture run in was coming and dipped as quickly as he could. He knew what was coming and timed his exit to perfection. Kept his reputation in tact and by bad mouthing the upper management on the way out shifted all the blame onto them. Masterclass in tactics to be fair to him.

Conte was also only 0.01 points per game away from being their best ever manager in the Premier League (1.88 compared to 1.89 for Pochettino). They were in 4th in their usual position in recent seasons but shit themselves because of how far ahead we were. After pipping us to 4th last season that was supposed to be how it was going be going forward and they panicked when that's not what happened.

Bit hard to be impressed their mega-rich owners who aren't remotely interested in turning a profit from the club are pouring money into it in obvious ways.

Expanding the stadium, wow. Truly the wisdom of Solomon.

Not to mention they're probably subcontracting Eddie Howe's brother-in-law for the interior decoration at the new training facility.

The praise Newcastle keep getting from all corners will never cease to amaze me. Are people really that easy to please all of a sudden?

It's fucking crazy mate, time will tell I guess. People love to have something in their back pockets to flog Arsenal with when the need arises, and the theory Newcastle are now the best run club in Premier League history presently serves that purpose (it's been Spurs and Liverpool in recent years also).

We may have just completed a cleverly engineered squad rebuild, already have our expanded stadium and rebuilt training grounds, and be recording our best season in about 15 years with one of the league's youngest squads, but don't worry—Eddie Howe is a level above.

I remember there were people unhappy or bashing about Leicester, Dortmund and Brighton too when it was said that they run their clubs well and play good football.

Three points.

Firstly, I'd argue those people have been somewhat vindicated with Leicester being relegated and the other two in a standing sprint to nowhere.

Secondly, it's rarely just praise. Often it's used to bash our own side so it's understandable why it rubs people the wrong way. Even with Newcastle we've seen praise for them used to diminish the work Arteta has done and to mock 'the process'.

Lastly, I've always found it completely normal for fans to show favouritism towards their own team or struggle to praise others. So yeah, fuck Newcastle, fuck objectively and most of all fuck Atalanta.
