Seriously though. Although it's against these clowns, this is exactly how you respond to a bad performance to convince yourselves it was a blip and not a precipitous drop in form. I think we peaked too early, and have run out of gas. I don't see us winning the league without a huge shift in mentality. Secondly I mentioned before that we will hardly ever score so many goals under this control ball era. It's just not set up for that. The sort of pass Willock laid on for Isak's first goal? We will never even attempt 9 times out of 10. It eliminates spontaneity and instinctive play. Sacrifices it for structure and dominance. It's a big "do not like" for me.

Been saying all season Newcastle is the real deal. If they had more luck with injuries and Pope sending off they would be far closer to us. They literally only had one blip this year

Clrnc Once Newcastle secure CL football, FFP won't be an issue for them and they'll be able to loosen the purse strings. They did the right thing by using this season to fix their foundations. The fact that they're likely finishing top four is a huge plus too.

goon ideally what you want is a balance. Control in certain situations, and fluency/ spontaneity in others. We have good enough players to be able to incorporate both approaches. I want us to blow teams away, not just stifle the life out of games (although i'd take the latter right now if we could manage it)

Yeah not sure I feel any better about us going there, it's things like this that just make it hard to think we can trot out all wins from the remaining fixtures.

As for spurs while it is funny, but just like when we've been above them before they feel like an irrelevance we were on a different level to them this year so I end up not really caring about them outside our fixtures.

Mirth I didn't understand what they were doing previously. All the money in the world but they didn't splash it, chose to spend on average proven PL players but the way Howe didn't need any process or time to improve the team, change the style is just uber impressive. You're right, probably trying to consolidate PL top 4 and go step by step before going for European top players. Basically opposite of how Citeh and Eriksson did previously.

Once they splash their wallet it will be scary.

Burnwinter agree about Newcastle, I really dislike them and I'm worried about how soon before they are mounting their own challenges for the top. It's why it feels like we have a closing window with them, city not forgetting our other rivals like Chelsea, Liverpool and United. I wonder if United go for Kane this summer he's got to bin off Spurs now and can't really see many other options.

This is why I've been desperate for us to win the title since it started looking possible. It would give us that extra shot in the arm to stay ahead of this lot.

Obviously it's been a great season for us no matter what, and we also play better football, but if we can't establish a dynasty their new financial parameters will be a big threat over time. City getting sanctioned harshly with retrospective effects would help.

By the way, if anyone doesn't see now why it was disgusting cowardice for Conte to walk when he did ... spineless, treacherous behaviour to abandon his players in this manner to this sort of spectacle. The Spursiest act that's happened at Tottenham all season.
