My only issue with Brighton is that, like Leicester recently, they find the players we should and then add an insane markup once they’ve proven the players. They have so many players who arrive ready for Premier League, so it’s not like they’re being putting in tons of development.

Watching Rice closely, he really isn't worth the premium. Way too stiff and not much in his game. Completely dominated by Iwobi and Gana. 30m player at most, all hype

Don’t know if anyone else went with him, but Dan Ashworth is at Newcastle now and he set them back £5m in compensation I believe.

Don't agree he was dominated at all, he was very comfortable all game. I do agree with this, though. He's just not very dynamic, and he's boring to watch. The setup he's playing in kind of asks for that, though. We've seen some impressive moments from him when he's actually allowed to carry the ball beyond the center circle.

Clrnc Hope you are right. We have a decent bunch coming through in defence and goals, generally playing decent football these days despite our limited squad but really, really need a striker.

I’m not worried about buying their department. We seem to be able to build a squad fine. Edu’s overhaul of the scouting department has been incredible - basically this is what we should’ve done when we first bought StatDNA.

we thought he was worth close to what chelsea paid. we may not have been willing to go to 100m after top ups, but we got damn close and if you're going to get close then you need to close the deal. a chunk of what you're paying going to a much more worthy cause than them turning around and giving that money to some other club to buy their players is just the cherry on top. 25m to defend their homeland and get a guy who looks like a future world beater on top of that. win/win.

Why should we pay a transfer fee that is possibly 2x inflated just because there is a £25m charitable donation included?

Arteta and Edu have shown they can get the job done the last two summers. I would trust them to get another massive player in this summer

Loving how he's suddenly only worth 45m now. That certainly didn't seem to be the case when it seemed like we were the ones getting him, except for with a few people.

Well, don’t know about others, but I certainly wasn’t saying we should dump £88m on a player just because the seller is really pulling the strings. There are so many top players available right now and the relative financial strength of Premier League is only increasing. We are better off waiting for the summer when teams will be more able to sell.

You will also remember I was vehemently against the Joao Felix deal when people were saying we should mortgage our future for him. Trossard is exactly the kind of deal we need now - proven, capable player to secure this title. He will be like a Wiltord for us

GooneriC Should have got it done in the summer, that is our big mistake. We had the funds and should have pulled the trigger. We ended up trying to sign a CM and didn't sign anyone.
