My point is Arteta cannot be stopped from building an outstanding team. It's inevitable because he's too good, too detemrined and has a lazer-like view of what he wants to build.
How hard we went for those players none of us know exactly, and if we did sign them, I'm sure they would have been perfect for what Arteta wanted. But we signed who we signed and Arteta pretty much always gets it right for the reasons mentioned.
This is some next level Arteta tinted glasses talk Ricky. There's no point really discussing pitential signing then. Arteta can do no wrong. Sign Jesus instead of Vlahovic, then we made the right choice because he fits into our play? Sign Vlahovic instead of Jesus then it would also be the right choice because Arteta pretty much always gets it right?
But we didn't sign Vlahovic, we signed Jesus, and according to Edu they were working on the deal for a very long time.
I'm convicned we got the man we wanted, and that probably means the Vlahovic link was hugely exaggerated, if not mostly made up. It's perhaps be the same deal with Tielemans right now and it certainly was with Raphina earlier in the summer, where Edu was very clear - we asked, Deco said he wants Barca, and that was that. The press were a million miles off with their reporting, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were for each and every one of those on Clarence's list.
All I'm saying is Arteta knows exactly what he wants.
