I don't want to believe it either. If they get him, they'll have signed Bissouma and Tielemans for in total the same price that we tried to sign Raphinha when we have ESR, Martinelli, Saka and Pepe. Getting both Tielemans and Bissouma would've been transformational for us.

If Arteta really felt midfield was our weakness. We would have signed midfielders the same way we signed CB year in year out. No chance in my opinion

Have a feeling the management team see Patino as being ready to breakthrough and they also see a lot of potential with Lokonga.

Tielemans and Bissouma would in no way be transformational signings.

Signing Frenkie De Jong would be transformational. I don't think we're involved because I'd wager United are offering crazy wages that far exceeds our highest earners.

Bissouma and Tielemans on the other hand don't look like guaranteed upgrades, at all. I've softened on Xhaka even though we absolutely should buy a CM and hope we land someone really good. I'm not convinced these two chaps are that. More sideways than anything, IMO.

Tielemans is an upgrade on Xhaka and Bissouma a huge upgrade on Lokonga and Elneny. It's not like I suggested signing Bissouma to replace Partey. Our midfield turned to absolute shot whenever he was injured, so making signings that would ensure that our performance in the middle of the park isn't 100% dependent on Partey being both fit and in form is transformational the way I see it.

People dragging Patino into this says it all about the state of our midfield.

And he's gone from not being an option off the bench to a level where we don't need to sign a midfielder between the end of the season and now?

For mind the biggest issue if the club goes with youth in midfield is the lack of experience, which was an issue for us last season and more so after Chistmas. I'm also concerned this will be used as the reasoning to retain Xhaka and keep him as a starting player.

our midfield options are so average, that they actually would be transformational

Patino my ass.

He is not Cesc Fabregas 2005 where we sell Vieria and sign no one as he is a generational talent.

Patino needs at least 18 months on loan before we can even consider him properly.

A CM is a must. Sometimes I wonder what planet some of you guys are on.

Watch elneny play a half decent game and get another extension.

Nobody wanted the chump even last year available for peanuts with a year left.
