Looks like its as good as done. Not a transfer I'm overly excited about at all but good they did it early, he's a decent enough player in a position we need. Probably overly optimistic to expect another better striker. Hopefully we get a top class midfielder in now though.

Also get the feeling I'll end up defending him against people who are more positive about this transfer in 6 months time. He's going to frustrate people who can't deal with misses a lot.

I think he's a good player, Arteta knows him, Martinelli will love having him here, so yeah, decent signing with some upside.

I doubt he'll really take us up a level though, he won't score 20 league goals, he'll have frustrating games and he'll be our least talented forward. So if he's our only signing at CF .. well we'd better sign a proper world class midfielder, preferably someone with goals in him.

hopefully we get him for closer to 40m. probably not the silver bullet forward we're all craving but I'm struggling to name any strikers in the market that are miles ahead and worth the extra 20-30m transfer fee they'd command, also considering acclimatisation risks. seeing as though arteta will be here for the foreseeable future I can see jesus slotting into the 9.5 role he seems to be aiming for. solid workrate as well.

The Fabrizio tweet uses Euro as currency so it basically says that City want £42-51m. I think 40 sounds about right, but who knows what will happen with prices this summer with Newcastle probably willing to overpay for anyone.

Anyway, I see Jesus more as a cog in the machine than a difference maker, so it'll be important to fix the midfield this summer. A cog in a well-oiled machine is fine, especially when we've had a striker basically sabotaging us a while this season, but we need the midfield to chip in.

Agreed with these points, as I think Jesus is more than capable of scoring double figures for us as it is, let alone the impacts of having a CF who is fit for purpose.
Whilst I also agree with the 2nd point I'm not as sure than any of the players we have been 'linked' to are as likely to contribute as many goals as we want, and I do wonder if Arteta is working towards the front 3 scoring the bulk of the goals by improving our transitions and supply.

such as? everyone keeps saying there's better options out there. I'd like osimhen as much as the next guy, but you're looking at basically double what jesus costs, and it's not like it's a sure thing
