Yeah that's the main point for me. As manager he has to get the most out of his squad. He has to show some flexibility for the sake of the team's position, unless the player is so completely toxic there is no way he can be tolerated. I don't see Auba being like that. So Arteta has to deal with it for 6 months or he and Edu have to replace him. They failed.
The youth part I think is valid to a large extent. My eldest kids are in their early 20s and they're pretty smart and doing well in life, but they're still so young. Sure the footballers are professionals and have been in the system for a little while now, but they're still kids many of them. It's really disappointing how the season finished but I'll cut the players some slack.
