Why is it Eddie Howe can turn Newcastle around almost instantly. Same with Vieira and Conte. Yet with Arteta it's all excuses, bedding in and trust the process.
Depends on who you mean, the fans who still defend him are either in a state of cognitive dissonance or too proud to revise their view of him. I can understand if people are mortified having fallen for his horrendous nonsense tbf.
With him and the club's brass it's been obvious from the start of the season that they wouldn't be nailed on any position they expect from him at the end of the season, been all cloudy terms "return to greatness" "what the fans deserve". When it's happened or leaked through like when we signed Willian and told him he'd win the CL after three years or the Athletic article talking about expectations to return to the CL before this season it quickly died out or was brushed under the carpet.
Obviously the full responsibility lies with Kroenke and the board but I really believe Arteta has done an incredible job of clawing into the club the way he did. He gets more money than anyone else to spend, no expectations on finishing anywhere while 100% job security, can pay Barcelona to take Auba a year after giving him 350kpw and the captaincy while we have no real striker, Edu who's his superior technically comes across like he's his PA, he has the whole media in a chokehold, when shit hits the fan he hires a PR company, even Lacazette came out saying the whole club is all about Arteta. If he were 10% the coach that he's the politician we'd be walking the league.
