Initially I looked at this game as a free hit but I’ve changed my mind. Why?

1) I’ve watched Liverpool recently and they look a bit tired. I reckon we could get at them. Players like Salah, who may even be injured for this game, look like they’ve already played a lot of football and are not firing on all cylinders.

2) Momentum is an important thing in football as we all know. However, we shouldn’t give it away cheaply hence why I don’t like to use the term ‘free hit’. This is no bonus game, win and we go 4 points ahead of our nearest rival with two games in hand.

3) We need a big scalp for this current Arsenal side. We haven’t beaten Liverpool or City (home or away) in the league for nearly 2 years, that is a poor stat.

4) We’ve been raving about a lot of players recently and rightly so. However, it’s one thing doing it against Watford and Leicester and another thing doing it against Liverpool.

A win on Wednesday and if anything the Villa game becomes a free hit as that will be tricky too but the implications of a statement win over Liverpool is huge.

Plus we owe them for fucking us around with those false positive BS Covid malarkey in Jan.

There are only two games every season I've considered a "free hit" in recent years (although I've never used that expression) and those are City and Liverpool away. Liverpool at home is not one, and especially not now that we're not a midtable club.

5) I made Saka my fantasy captain.

I doubt Arteta and the players will be looking at it like a free hit anyway. If we want to become a serious team again and change the narrative we need to be looking to win games like this at home.

I'd keep the same line-up for this and bring ESR in for the weekend.

Don't know why he didn't sub out Laca and Saka earlier on Sunday when we were in full control.

One Liverpool player that worries me the most, above Salah, is Luiz Diaz. Looks like an absolute baller. We will need to keep him quiet. Also that cunt Jota too who seems to always score against us.

We need big game Laca to have his scoring boots on for this game too.

Liverpool are a fantastic team and they need to win this if they want to have a chance at winning the title. I wouldn't be too disappointed if we lost this game, I just want us to play brave and take the game to them the same way we did to City and I'll be happy.

The only problem about losing the game (apart from the obvious) is we don’t have much turnover time to the Villa game so have little time to feel sorry for ourselves if the worse was to happen.

A loss would be disappointing in and of itself but with regards to our top 4 push we can afford it.

We need to get a lot smarter if we want to win games like this. Our recent games against Liverpool and City show we have the football ability to beat them but lack the nous.

Not scared. Each time we meet the top teams and don't win I only want to be able to say that at the very least there's been some improvement from the prior game. And I think we are ready to show how much we have improved. It will be entertaining. If I had to bet I'd say it will end in a draw.

And yet we kept the scoreless at their place when down to 10 men after 24 mins before the recent changes to our midfield shape.

IMO even if we drop points in this game we can end the w/end in a stronger position re top4, as we travel to Villa whilst TH host WHU and LFC host MU.
Whilst LFC will be keen to close within a point of MC I also think they'll be more urgent to take points at Home v MU.

No reason to be too pessimistic, the two sides have each other's numbers so it'll be one of those matches where the details like first goal are more decisive.

A draw is a fair guess at the average of a whole lot of different things that could happen.
