We probably only have to win around 70% (or 12/17) of our remaining games get top four. So games like this are must win unless we want to narrow the margin for error even further.

The margins are so fine between 4th and even 9th that we will rarely be in a position to afford to lose points. Every time we do, we're hoping for others to do the same. Yes, they arguably will, but that won't change the fact that going into every game we will feel like we can't afford to lose points.

We will badly miss Tomi for this. The key to beating Wolves is the ability to switch play as they are a very solid unit. Without being able to move the defence around, Saka and Martinelli will end up being swamped again.

We could potentially do well if Laca has a stormer, as he can distribute play well dropping deep. But that seems very unlikely right now.

They've a system revolving around absolutely strangling the life out of matches, winning through grit and moments of individual brilliance, so this shouldn't be surprising.

Difference still just amounts to 14 goals. You're right they look like an anomaly in the table at the moment, but we're well behind the curve too.

Ultimately we don't need to prevent them from scoring as much as we need to score ourselves, and Wolves have only conceded 16 goals. We so rarely find the tools to unlock this type of opponent.

To be fair Wolves haven't actually been all that defensive, at least when I've watched them. They're just lacking in quality in the final third, but they've generally tried playing with the ball and pushing up the pitch when they can. I think Sa is a large reason for the lack of goals conceded too.

We should beat them really, especially with Xhaka and Partey back in midfield. Just need to aviod doing anything silly like going down to ten.

Seems to be how we go in almost any match at the moment comes down to whether we go ahead in our first spell of sustained pressure.

We struggle if we go behind and we struggle if our plan A is faltering.

Well, we've also conceded 56% more so not that mind-boggling imo.

Started to wonder if it really was a bit anomalous for a team to have this many points with so few goals, all else being equal.

Wolves had the lowest season long goals–points ratio of any team last season, which was 0.8.

They are currently tracking at 0.56.

Nearest this season is Brighton currently, 0.77. We are at 0.92.

Think it counts as noteworthy. They're having a bit of a weird one.

Top 4 is there for the taking. The teams around us are shit and we just need to be less shit for the next 15 games or so. Not optimistic but I think there is a chance.

Looking forward to tonight. Although, slight dread if it goes badly because I know there is a chunk of the fanbase that's ready to pounce, and that would be sad state of affairs. I'm hoping everyone comes back recharged, and that we can see these boys flying:

if we don't turn up, it's fair for people to have the hump. we're coming off a rough January on a number of levels, and a poor performance here raises red flags, and not unfairly either

we hit something of a low point with the everton and man u games, then went on our best run of the season. we need another response like that. arteta has just about been able to extricate himself from these pickles each time they've happened. hopefully we can start fresh after this training break and go on a run

After the Aubameyang melodrama it'd be great to see both a spirited run-out from the players and a good outcome.

Getting to fourth is "in our hands" for the first time in quite a while given recent results.

Really hope we take to the field tonight looking like we're eager to take the opportunity rather than collapsing under the weight of expectation. That's been a trait of ours for the best part of a decade. Need to take to the field with some confidence.
