Leicester play in Europe on the Thur before our game so that’s fortunate.

What’s unfortunate is we play Liverpool 3 days before Villa away who will have a fresh week. That Villa away game will be challenging, we’ve lost both away games under Arteta, need to rectify that.

We normally do well in big games too so if we can win against United and Spurs, or at least not lose them we can even afford to drop points in another 2-4 games from there.

West Ham, Soton, Palace are the other potential banana skins from there, all 3 are strong at home this season but other than that don't see any other particularly tricky games

After the cup exits and total goal drought round December and January, I'm kinda amazed we have been accumulating points so well. In fact at the end of that period I was amazed we were still in it, it's a testament to the problems of our rivals.

It could still somehow go bad here one way or another, but it's looking less and less likely.

given the state of our rivals, 20 points from those games leaves us on 68, and that feels like enough for 4th this season

Have some very tricky fixtures left, but 7 wins should do it, which is well within our capabilities.

IMO one way in which to keep our eyes on the prize would be to switch our focus to now chasing CFC for 3rd, rather than looking to consolidate for 4th. If we keep our focus looking forward we can avoid taking our foot off the pedal as such.

Indeed. About the only game we have left that I'd be super confident about is Leeds at home. The rest all look like potential banana skins to me. Long way to go yet.

Yes we've got ourselves into a good position, just about in the door, now a lot to do to stay there.

that's only a little more than half of the matches left though. Not sure how safe that is.

That said, if in that 7 we beat Spurs, Mancs and West Ham we're sorted.

It's all relative.

If we win 7 from 13 it means United have to win 8 from 10 to leapfrog us and even that's assuming we lose the other 6 rather than draw.

Tottenham would have to win 9 from 13 and pick up an extra point which is more achievable but still a tough ask.

Both of those runs for United and Spurs would be by far the best runs of form they've had all season.

Don't need to overthink it for the time being, we've got the advantage. I'd rather talk about us trying to end Liverpool's league campaign in a fortnight. A watershed result would be great for this team at the moment.

To put it another way, that's below our current points per game average and a small decimal above our points per game average from last season.

Won't count eggs before they're hatched etc. but that should be well within our range.

Also, 69 points would have had us third last season and it doesn't look like top four will present much more of a challenge this year.

Basically now we have to win against Chelseq WHU and United while not losing to Spurs since we chose to shit the bed completely in very winnable games.

Problem is I can't see us winning much matches now that luck is no longer on our side and we continue to play this shit way
