Which is insane because de Jong is the better player and also closer to the profile they need.

They've made so many insanely stupid decisions in the last years it's unreal. Have one of the best academies in the world and hardly use it, overpay on loads of unneeded players etc. I'd say they manage to make us look well run next to them but a bit difficult to claim that about us when we paid them to take Auba.

They'll be paying huge wages for a washed up Auba for however long his contract is. That's not wise.

I'm not sure on De Jong the player. I was projecting a little when I spoke of City and Liverpool not fancying him. He's obviously an excellent player, but I never quite got why everyone went so gaga for him? He relies of his decent burst and dribbling rather than insane touch, close control and balance like a Bernado Silva does, and I'm not sure how well that'd translate to the PL where everyone in midfield is a top athlete? I also think he's prone to giving the ball away in dangerous areas - it rules him out as a potential top 6 for me - and I've never seen a true elite passing range or final ball in him.

Maybe I've got him wrong, but I've just never quite seen it with him as one of the very, very best.

He's class, maybe doesn't show it enough all of the time, but in the right environment he'd be superb.

I'd imagine the reason they've not gone after him (aside from not necessarily needing him) are his insane wages. He's on 350k a week apparently and probably wouldn't want to take a cut.

City have just agreed to pay Foden £200k/week though. De Bruyne will be on De Jong money no doubt. Haaland will be on stupid money too.

And with Bernado likely going the otjer way, it seems to me there's a good chance Guardiola doesn't fancy him.

Barcelona was paying Auba very minimal last season, we were paying the majority. Not sure how much they are paying him this year but apparently he has taken quite a big paycut

Rabiot is actually a decent signing but not worth the trouble for most clubs by now

If Aubameyang is earning less then they will probably have done some dodgy deal with him - I don't believe for a second he'd drop his wages.

Either way, we don't have to pay Aubameyang's monster wages for next couple of years, they do (or they'll sue him and not pay them, whatever they decide!).

Just googled and apparently he took a paycut from his 350k per week deal here, to be paid 288k from July onwards after the Arsenal pay-off agreement expires 😆

A paycut, but that's still massive ffs. Really don't understand how Barcelona can afford everything even after all the explanation about tv rights. Its insane.

Insane money to give Aubameyang. Even then I'm still certain they'd get that £60k/week difference to him in one dodgy way or another otherwise he'd still be here.

Barca and R.Madrid both know if shit really went down they'd be bailed out. At least with Florentino they are run like a proper business and he has the finances on a solid footing and long term thinking when they sign players these days. Barca situation is a joke. Laporta inherited an absolute shit show but they seem to be banking on short term success. With the system they have though unless Laporta does something quickly he won't get re-elected, it encourages short term thinking.

It's actually insane. You're paying an aging Auba and Lewa insane amounts of money (and a hefty transfer fee in the case of the latter) only to try and force out one of your best relatively young players.

That's a fair point, mate. Forgot about that. Might account for the difference then. Either way, Aubameyang's not giving up millions and millions of pounds for the "dream" of playing for Barcelona!

Not at this stage of his career too with only a few years left. I don't think he's the sort who'd have sat around at Arsenal not getting his game though.

He probably would have gone to Saudi Arabia or China, but lucky for him he found a desperate, stupid and crooked club to give him crazy money without the need for that yet.

Diop joins Fulham for 15m. They are making all the good signings, think they will stay up.

Surprising how bad Diop has fallen though. 2 seasons ago West Ham wouldn't accept a 50m bid and now he has joined Fulham

If he's for sale I think we can compete for him. United will pay a better salary but our project looks more promising at the moment.
