Don't know if it's been mentioned, but Ramsdale and Gabriel hadn't played for nearly 3 weeks. Chambers in god knows how long? They looked rusty as hell but soldiered on.

I thought all of them were very good, but I was particularly impressed with how Lokonga grew into the game. Showed some composure on the ball and won a lot of duels.

I'm really torn on Lacazette and a new contract too. He is just so useful when he's putting the work in.

Lokonga didn't suck as much when he only had to do half the job, and even then he only really managed a quarter of it. Not sure he comes out of this game with much credit.

Tbf Laca always puts the work in. Never seen him shy away from a battle or hide in a game.

Lokonga's best quality is his composure, but sometimes you want him to look a little more lively. When he has a bit more energy to his game like against Villa he's very good.

If Eddie and Auba are gone by the summer it wouldn't be the worst move in the world to give Laca a new deal. Love his attitude too. Balogun could do with another year out on loan unless he kills it at Boro.

I wish he had another year left on his contract....

Losing both Laca and Auba wouldn't be ideal going into next season

True. I suppose what I actually meant was when he can run for more than 50 minutes. His fitness previously was an utter disgrace, even if his work rate during the time he iss on is always good.

I'm a bit skeptical that Laca could/would continue at this rate beyond this season. Seems like a good time to part ways regardless.

It could defo back fire but I'm not a fan of signing back up players - you generally just end up spending a lot of money on someone who's evidently not good enough to start.

If we sign Vlahovic or Isak you can't exactly sign a young guy to compete either, doesn't make any sense. Let him huff and puff for a year or two and give Balogun some serious game time on loan.

The boys worked their socks off today.

We did have some moments in the last 2-3 but we had completely had Liverpool shackled up till then.

Defence was great especially Ben white.

Top efforts from our front 3 - Laca, Saka & Gabi

Laca will get a longer contract elsewhere probably better than the 1 we can give him.

We need 2 strikers anyway.

This game highlights the need for some signings.

I think he's got a very decent scoring record for us.

Besides, the role of a modern CF isn't only about scoring goals. It's arguably more important these days to have a striker that makes the team play better (such strikers are typically not that prolific, there aren't many Benzemas around). A striker can score a lot of goals but be a parasite to the team
