We all see it. They look uncertain, nervous, and lack conviction in what they're doing. That kind of systemic sloppiness means their heads aren't where they need to be. They aren't prepared to play.
Then in some games that all feels like it's in the past and we've turned a new leaf. It swings so far back and forth, leaves me dizzy.
Sometimes you get the feeling that Arteta understands this, but mostly I'm getting the sense that he relies too much on tactical instruction and a very narrow conception of discipline, while ignoring what I think is the real essence of competition.
Now we're down to 10 we seem to have found that competitive spirit, but it's too late. Should be there from the start, in every game. It's why guys like Tomiyasu stand out.
