It was obvious about 20 minutes into the game the Travares, Lokonga, Partey axis was shit. That first 6 minutes of the 2nd half alone justified terminating Lokonga’s contract on the spot. Travares offered nothing, in the first half, I don’t remember a single time we advanced the ball successfully from his side (maybe a dozen times on the other side). Partey’s head seems to be somewhere else, he doesn’t seem fully engaged mentally, despite his quality.
But when we did get forward, we could have actually managed something if Lacazette didn’t have a 4/10 night, he got bullied, but he did play with two kids and a 6”2 twig. The Tommy, Saka, Lacazette axis looked like it could hurt Liverpool at least. People calling to drop Lacazette in place of Odegard are forgetting Aubameyang’s total lack of physical presence. It has not, and will not work.
What we need is a big strong ugly center forward, who plays dirty and wins his fair share of duels. Sort of like a better Giroud who isn’t a pussy.
